About Gravelord

This game will knock your socks off and take you back to the time when you were a little boomer brat!

Gravelord is a boomer shooter FPS along the lines of Doom or Quake, with modern graphics & audio as well as some fresh & fancy features.

Proven Boomer Shooter Formula:

- Run & jump around levels like a complete badass.
- Beat the living hell out of enemies and blow them up with powerful weapons like there's no tomorrow.
- Abstract level design heavily aimed at fun and engaging gameplay rather than realism.
- Figure out how to beat each level and find its deviously hidden secrets.

So What's the Special Sauce?

- Badass Protagonist: We're bringing back the sassy, witty one-liners like Duke Nukem mixed with the rotten charisma of Frankenstein's monster.
- Use your Spectral Shovel to get around quickly and confuse enemies.
- Collect Tarot Cards to significantly boost your power level and combat options.
- Upgrade your weapons to unlock additional fire modes and synergies.
- Make your own levels with the integrated Level Editor! (This will officially come out with the full release of the game.)

Badass Protagonist

Queedo the Gravedigger, dumb as hell but as strong as an ox, sets out to avenge his father while using his trusty Total Uber Shovel to beat the living crap out of his enemies and give them a first-class ticket to the underworld.

Big boy has opinions: Queedo comments on what's going on with his typical sense of rotten humor and Cockney accent.

Comic book cutscenes fill in the blanks and drive the story forward.

Find and collect comic book pages to learn more about the world and the backstory.

See Queedo's face react to events and get smashed to a pulp when you're getting your ass handed to you!

Spectral Shovel

Use your Spectral Shovel to cover great distances in an instant.

Overcome seemingly unbeatable obstacles and hazards.

Enable shortcuts to previously discovered parts of a level.

Tarot Cards

Collect magical Tarot Cards that empower you in various ways.

Because only a few can be equipped at a time, you’ll be faced with a difficult choice!

Find the combination that best fits your playstyle.

Discover synergies with weapons & alt fire modes.

Weapons & Upgrades

Choose from an array of meaningful weapons.

Use the best weapon for any given situation, or just rely on your favorite -- both ways are viable!

Upgrade your weapons to unlock a second, powerful fire mode.

Discover synergies between weapons and their fire modes to create maximum carnage!

Level Editor

Use our integrated level editor to make your own levels and episodes, right within the game. It's the same tool we use ourselves.

Instantly playtest your level from wherever you are in the editor. The transition between the editor and the game is quick and seamless.

Script the level to your liking, from simple monster closets to complicated overarching puzzles.

Tools, such as automatic texture hotspotting, intuitive geometry tweaking & cutting, and more, will make it a breeze to build a level of your dreams very quickly.

If you got all the way down here, you have proven you are a true boomer shooter fan and that Gravelord is just for you!

Thank you and have fun!

Gravelord is an old school first person shooter, but I'm not going to waste any time going into detail on the gameplay mechanics. The mouse aim feels very stuttery, especially when moving the mouse diagonally, which makes the combat look and feel terrible. I mean, its technically playable as long as you don't ever try to circle strafe. Enemy variety, gun variety, map design, nothing matters because the most fundamental part of any FPS is completely broken and just not fun to play.

A game that tries to recapture the soul of the original Quake but does it completely wrong: Maps are over-repetitive and a nightmare to navigate. Weapons are too weak, and most alt fire modes are just gimmicks. Enemies are overly bullet-spongy and too trigger-happy. The card system sounds interesting until you find out 90% of them are absolutely useless. The only viable strategy in Hard mode is to walk through a corridor, trigger enemy spawns and run back immediately, snipe them from a distance with your hitscan weapons, or abuse that tarot card which lets your third attack deal 300% damage by shooting the Gatling gun twice, then switching to rifle/launcher so you basically have a guaranteed crit all the time. In general, the combat is just not fun. I really tried to enjoy it, but I can't say it is satisfying or challenging; it's just annoying. It's also worth mentioning that this game has the worst swimming mechanics of any FPS I ever played. Your character swims at a speed of a turtle and starts drowning after 5 seconds without a diving suit (which will run out pretty fast btw), and they even made a sewer level which is entirely about swimming and underwater puzzle-solving. …

A nice face paced game. Has some strong Quake vibes for anyone looking for a game like that.

Good shooter. Maybe art is a bit repetitive, but gameplay is smooth and weapons and enemies are fun.

Overall game was pretty fun and interesting. Wish there was a neutral rating. Pros: - Interesting and varied weapons - Satisfying combat - Quicksave and good checkpoints Cons: - Some levels are a bit too big and samey - Enemies are a bit bullet spongy - For most of the game I was at or below 40 health - Sometimes not very clear on where you should be going - Game starts to overstay its welcome - Crashes on final boss every time you try to defeat it with 10% health left Final boss only works if you hit it with a shovel when its at 10% health.
