I can't believe I'm actually writing a review on this and taking it seriously but this game pissed me off more than it should. I bought this game because I remembered it from back in the day. I had just turned 11 when this game came out a few weeks prior. There were many youtubers I saw play it, and I eventually played it myself but refunded because I thought it was too difficult. So, Christmas/New Years sale comes around and I see it in my recommended games tab and thought ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wow I haven't thought of this in years!!! And so I regrettably ended up buying it and played through the entire thing. Trust me when I say this is actually one of the worst games I've ever played in my entire life. I would like to try the other entries in this series (particularly 1999, as it seems the most appealing to me) so I'm not entirely put off. But this entry is genuinely so bad I can't stress enough. It's funny because it does so little in a short amount of time, a lot of the reasons I can boldly say such a thing is because of poor optimization, lazy design, horrible AI, and a generally stupid concept. I hate to say it but as a big fan of 123 Slaughter Me Street, this one really disappointed me. The animations are really lazy, most likely coming from mixamo or any other animation website. The models are decent for at the time I'd say. Most of the game is just the same basic loop but very little changes, and the controls are a bit weird but easy to get used to. My final rating for this game would be 4.5/10

I bought this game when I was a gullible tween in 2016 for $20. I was excited because my favorite YouTubers were promoting it so I also bought it. I logged about an hour trying to beat it before I left it in my library for exactly 10 years. I returned to beat it as an aspiring QA analyst and can immediately tell you that this game is an absolute scam and should be $1. An entire playthrough of all 10 chapters took me about 40 agonizing minutes of copy paste levels and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics. The mechanics are as follows: find blue highlighted “hiding spots” and sit in them to fill up a “seek bar”. Once the seek bar is full you have to find a glowing orb and after you obtain that you go out the asset flipped house’s front door. One would think that the addition of new “monsters” would add new mechanics but all it does is add 3 turds that follow designated walk paths. The only difficulty is predicting their movement because the upstairs only has one narrow path on the stairs. Boring. For 5 bucks it isn't terrible but it has a lot weighing the game down. The first game wasn't the best it had a lot of issues but one thing I liked about it was that it had a unique gameplay loop. This one doesn't really. Hiding seek is kinda unique but it's basically run around a house with spooky monsters and just sit in an area for a little bit. It can be somewhat fun trying to scout out the next safe zone but it's not much. The monster designs also aren't bad but I do think they are a little more forgettable. Each level usually has a different amount of monsters in it besides the last couple which have all 3. I think the game does introduce each monster well enough before shoving all of them into a level. Speaking of levels while for the most part they are the same every once in awhile the lighting changes and there are some small details like the older models appearing. One level I wanna bring up is level 8 which from what I know makes your flashlight piss poor and makes the house really damn dark.
