Community Driven Development
2084 was born out of a fun project from an internal 72 hour-long Game Jam. We loved what we created after it ended and thought you might like it too. We have a lot more coming in the upcoming weeks, and we want you to be a part of this journey we’re about to embark on.
What Steam players say

Players appreciate the ambitious arcade-style shooting gameplay and acknowledge the impressive technical feat of the 72-hour game jam development, with some enjoying the fast-paced Doom-like combat and endless mode for extended play. However, common complaints center on the game feeling unfinished and prototype-like, asset reuse, poor optimization for desktop play (possibly designed for VR), lack of narrative depth, and developer abandonment with no post-launch support, making it feel more like a technical demo than a complete product.
Hello! I’m making a video on this game since it’s the first entry in my Steam Backlog Challenge. I’ve played through it twice, and while I don't recommend it, I’d personally put it in the “meh” category. Here’s why: the game was created in just 72 hours during a game jam hosted by Feardemic, developed by Bloober Team (the folks behind Observer and Layers of Fear). It reuses assets, and I suspect it was originally designed with VR in mind—which doesn’t always translate well to desktop play. That said, if you enjoy mindless, old-school shooting in the style of Doom, Duke Nukem, or early Wolfenstein, you’ll have fun here. The main campaign lasts about an hour, though there’s also an endless mode if you want more. So why meh rather than not recommend it? Simple: I know I couldn’t make a game like this in 72 hours, and I’d challenge anyone else to try. Game development is a tough process, and for what it is, this project deserves respect. If you can make something better in that timeframe, send me your game—I’ll happily review it and make a video. If not, maybe give this one a shot and hit that recommend button. nice idea of making the title the number of seconds it takes to beat the game1 found this helpful
2084 is an ambitious yet uneven first-person shooter that attempts to fuse fast, arcade-style gunplay with light hacking mechanics inside a bleak cyberpunk setting. Developed and published by Feardemic, the game stands out less for its completeness and more for the ideas it puts on the table. From its earliest moments, it feels like a prototype built around a strong core concept—one that prioritizes atmosphere and moment-to-moment action over narrative cohesion or structural depth. The game is set in a dystopian future shaped by corporate dominance, virtual reality, and technological decay. Players assume the role of a corporate employee trapped in a violent simulation gone wrong, facing waves of hostile, zombie-like enemies infected by a mysterious nano-plague. The story exists largely as background context, delivered through brief cutscenes and fragments rather than fully developed characters or plot arcs. While the premise hints at larger themes of control, identity, and digital entrapment, the narrative rarely takes center stage, functioning instead as a thin framework to justify the action. Combat is the primary focus, and it is where 2084 shows both its strengths and limita…
Abandonware, scam even.
pretty decent game beat main story in like half an hour but has an endless mode that could be cool
Impressive for a game made in 72-hours, but the devs have abandoned the game and moved on to another project.
