Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala is such a satisfying finale to the trilogy with even better visuals. The environments are far more detailed and vibrant and some scenes look stunning. The Hidden Object scenes are cleaner, more polished, and the overall presentation just feels like a huge upgrade. Great ending to the series. Loved playing this together with my other half.2 found this helpful
Enigmatis 3 shows mastery when it comes to polish, pacing, visuals and fully customisable difficulty options. The puzzles remain logical enough without being too easy. There is so much variety with the mini-games, exploration and detective part, that you almost forget it’s a hidden object game at heart. The story is clearly explained and it’s concluded satisfyingly. I say this as a fan who replayed the previous Enigmatis games just before playing this one. That said, do keep in mind how the game is smaller and more linear compared to the previous games. While there is still fast travel, lots of areas become inaccessible and there is less need to fast travel anyway. I’m not saying this as a bad thing perse, but I’m sure there are some longtime fans who might dislike the change. What I am more annoyed about is how some achievements are permanently missable and it’s made worse with the save system (the game saves constantly and there is no manual save). The only option you have is completing the game and then playing it for the second time to get whatever you missed. Artifex Mundi games have always been high quality, this one doesn’t disappoint. I can safely recommend it to fans of…2 found this helpful
Fantastic finale, i couldn't wish for anything else!! I LOVE this trilogy! It's perfect1 found this helpful
I want to call this AM's magnum opus but I don't know if I can because I haven't played the rest of their games (yet) but considering how this one is always sitting at the the top of the top seller category yeah it just might be it The game is fantastic in every regard a triple jump from the second game and six from the first1 found this helpful
I doubt I'm alone in being someone who remembers the story arc of these games rather than particular puzzles after any time passes. In that category the game provides a satisfying ending to the ongoing conflict and is the most "cinematic" of the installments that came before it. The script and voice acting seemed better assembled as well. Enigmatis 3 felt shorter, but that could be because of a less convoluted progression with more tightly designed puzzle destination than less meaningful content. If you play the Engimatis series one after the other this third act will feel like the "thrilling conclusion" but might feel previous installments had more engaging and satisfying (and alternatively frustrating ) puzzles. Enigmatis 2 may be the strongest in all categories, but the series taken as a whole stands out in a genre that could be much stronger overall.
2016 was the year of Endless Fables: The Minotaur's Curse and Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala. They have two similarities moreover: both are impeccable games released the same year. The Shadow of Karkhala brought in an absolutely phenomenal introduction to the game, the finest of them all across the trilogy. Animations and cutscenes were spectacular in quality, proving that 2016 was definitely a great era for Artifex Mundi. If we speak about novelty, the loading screen when you enter the game, save, and quit is really unique. I have not seen such in other 2016 AM games. The story has a fascinating twist as you progress towards this end, but I was still absolutely speechless from the get-go. I had a hunch the twist was going to happen, but it still caught me off-guard. While I rain praises for this game's delivery, I had caught eye with some inconsistencies as well. Puzzles are very basic, very common, and very AM. Nothing is much new about it and I have no other comments about it. The voice acting was delivered not too great, but the whole story and quality of the visuals make up for it. There was also no indicators for collectibles and some are very hard to see. If you're a …
