About A Game About Mining Rocks

Hi everyone!I'm Lloid, a solo developer, and this game was a little passion project I built in my spare time.
You're alone in an abandoned mine, armed with nothing but a pickaxe.

Mine through rocks, uncover rare minerals, sell what you find, and upgrade your gear... if you survive. The deeper you go, the darker it gets.
Strange things dwell below the surface—and they don't like visitors.Mine. Progress. Fight. Discover what's buried in the dark.
No timer. No mercy. Just you, your headlamp, and the unknown.

Alright. A Game About Mining Rocks is done and dusted. This game is clearly inspired by A Game About Digging A Hole, but it completely changes up the formula by ditching the shovel in favor of a mining pick, and instead of digging holes to find/sell rocks and such, you are instead breaking up boulders and collecting/selling rocks in an already existing mine. To that end, in addition to your trusty mining pick, you also will unlock a mine cart which will allow for quick traversal back and forth between where you are in the mines and the computers you will return to in order to sell your rocks and buy upgrades. It's a familiar system with some worthwhile tweaks. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3523371068 Now, your mining pick is actually not upgradeable. Instead, you will be upgrading stamina, your backpack (in two ways: how much stone you can carry and how many gems and other more precious materials you can carry), your mining cart's traversal speed, and buffs to the amount of cash you earn from selling all your hard-earned stuff. You will also unlock explosives and X-Ray Goggles. The former only works on boulders. The latter will allow …

Obviously inspired by A Game About Digging A Hole, A Game About Mining Rocks does enough things different to earn its place as its own game. You have one tool, a pick-axe, and you use it to mine rocks. Inside these rocks, sometimes there are gems or other precious items. Continue deep enough and there is a boss fight, too. Achievements are locked until the game is completed once which is certainly a choice.

Stone, Spider, and Rare achievements are broken. I have them done according to my wall in game but my steam page says no. Give me my achievements and I will change this review

Alot of what I have to say is critical of this game but on the whole I enjoyed myself and just want to share my thoughts so the developer can understand things from the players perspective to make their games better and more enjoyable in the future! I ran into a few bugs while playing but the only one I was really frustrated by was when I couldnt find the third key for the third area even after breaking all of the rocks avalable. My only guess as to what happened is that some of the rocks are clipped into terrain outside of the mineable area so i think one of my keys spawned unreachable perhaps? So I started a second playthrough and was able to find all the keys this time. Since I was feeling pretty frustrated I didnt go out of my way to find collectables like i did the first time. I really just wanted to see what the end of the game was before I stopped playing. *spoilers ahead* Now i have a few problems with the design of this game. Firstly, why do you keep jump scaring me randomly with the sounds that make no sense to be in the area? Footsteps running behind you, a hammer hitting a anvil, rats scurrying around and bats flying around your head. But when you look there is noth…

Completed the game once and playing through again, found out you can phase through the locked gates by using minecart and going into it, going forward, saving and quitting, rinse repeat. Not worth sorting imo as its very much a case of you have to go out of your way to do it. Overall fun for a bit but had to use an autoclicker due to the spam click, would highly recommend adding a hold to mine mechanic or an auto mine upgrade that lets the game autoclick for you. Decent game, simple and fun. Edit: Having played further I have now fully cleared the entire mine and purchased 8 explosive and around 3 x-ray glasses. There is no stone or ore left and i have not got enough money to fully upgrade everything, it takes around 1800 more cash. The mining stone achievement is less than half way there (just over 7k) and there is no desire to fully complete the achievements as they are unrealistically high and require around 3 or 4 full playthroughs. I also have to complete the explosives achievement in another playthrough as they can ONLY be placed on stone...of which i still dont have any left. I also only have around 300 rares...achievements should be rebalanced if possible to be actually ach…
