About A Wake Inn
A Wake Inn is a PC VR horror game with elements of action, storytelling, exploration and puzzles.
Explore gloomy passages on a wheelchair, with an immersive control system complying it's limitations and difficulties. You won't be alone - mysterious Doctor Finnegan, owner of the estate, will accompany you through your shortwave transmitter. On your way you'll find many other items - some useful to move forward, some that can give you a hint about this place and it's former inhabitants. The hotel is occupied by other dolls similar to you, but they have no friendly intentions - they're raging and deadly, so try to avoid them. Fight when there’s no other way around.
You wake up as a human sized doll in an abandoned, retro style hotel, where apparently something bad happened in the past. And strange machinery definitely had something to do with it - you're the one to find out what is your role in this history. Who you are? How did you find yourself in this creepy place? GAME FEATURES:
- Immersive wheelchair control system - just sit on a chair and use controllers to move your wheels, alternatively use teleport or joystick to move more smoothly around the locations.
- Interactive items, like a shortwave transmitter which allows you to keep in touch with the mysterious character that’s leading you through the game, a flashlight that lights up the darkness of hotel passages (but only if you have the batteries), radio with custom stations, or the cinema room, where you can screen movies from reels you found around the hotel.
- Unique immersive inventory system - store collected items in the interactive container and manage its space to fit all necessary equipment.
- Environmental storytelling based in an old art deco hotel designed in detail.
- Dynamic, physic driven enemies, who can be avoided by sneaking mechanics, or taken down with melee weapons.
- Moody soundtrack and sound design referring to classics of horror.

A Wake Inn is a thrilling atmospheric experience developed by VR Bros, an indie studio based in Krakow, Poland. After years of gaining skills by building commercial VR apps (e.g. archviz apps), they decided to develop games focusing on quality of immersion. I can say they succeed on the first try, at least from a technical point of view. Let’s examine their work in detail. A Wake Inn is a soft horror game combining exploration, puzzles, action and storytelling. You wake up as a human sized doll in an abandoned, retro style hotel, where apparently something bad happened in the past. Strange machineries scattered throughout the hotel definetely have something to do with it. You have to understand what happened, solve all the misteries and put an end to the horrors in the inn.You are not alone, the voice of mysterious Doctor Finnegan, owner of the estate, accompanies you through the shortwave transmitter. The hotel is occupied by other dolls similar to you, but they have no friendly intentions; you have to fight and get rid of them (recommended), or try to avoid them (not recommended). Had to give up on this one. The wheelchair movement was just too much for me and caused a great deal of nausea. Using the wheelchair also made exploration too awkward and unenjoyable. There were also some major frame rate drops when entering a new room and I found the gameplay to be rather dull. Overall, I didn't enjoy my time spent with this game.3 found this helpful

Well........... First of all, what can i say...WOW!!! This game is great!! Very scary, the graphics really look good. I am still following the story...i think.! Being in a chair leaves you with nowhere to hide or run. Go for it.... get it. Will update this review again later.2 found this helpful
It looks good. But the movement is wonky and doesn't jibe well with the gameplay. Enemies are janky, as is detection and pathing. Overall it just wasn't fun.2 found this helpful
Decent game that lacks polish. About 5 hours to get through. + interesting and immersive VR implementation of inventory, movement, interactions + creepy, but not too scary + the visual style is nice and interesting, especially as far as doll design and inventions are concerned + great music, although sometimes it starts playing for no apparent reason ~ the inventory, although cool, isn't the most convenient. In the heat of battle it's hard to put anything in it, you're more likely to drop it ~ the plot isn't impressive, although the theme is interesting - combat is meh1 found this helpful
