AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! Remastered

I pre-αlpha tested the original and for my work I was rewarded with a level editor (after suggestion they added it to the final build) that enables me to make my own levels; unfortunately, the editor wasn't made public. Anyway, I was really pleased to see the remastered version of the game; thought I was expecting to see the same levels in an enhanced form. Instead I was met with over 130+ levels that were totally different to the original, which was a pleasant surprise. The game mechanic is basically the same, with the usual tasks such as flipping off spectators, kissing buildings, crashing through score plates and landing on a pad using the parachute to break your fall. The original level selector has gone, replaced by a linear level selector, with all levels apart from the first locked. Unlocking levels relies on you scoring a certain amount of points by falling and surviving to the landing pad. You also score up to five stars depending on the score you achieved. This is slightly different from the original that awarded you teeth instead of stars. I really really really want to believe this game will get better. That maybe Dejobaan Games will put out an update or something to give it the soul it deserves. However as it is right now, while the gameplay changes are interesting and the levels are fun it's just missing the polish that the earlier games in the series had. Please go check those out instead.

Genuinely incredibly unpleasant. I loved the original and played hours and hours of it. This has stripped out one of the key features that made the original great - the ability to finely manoeuvre with the WASD keys. This gave you so much more ability to carry out fine tricks, adjust your speed, adjust your angle, do so many of the things that made the original great and exciting. Now, your movement is locked to where you're aiming the camera, making it much harder to do fine movement and also giving less control over the visuals. I also personally didn't like how they automatically showed the optimal path. Half the fun of the original game was trying to work this out yourself as you tumbled down IMO. The original is so much better, would definitely recommend people play that instead.

unless this is something unrelated, I could've sworn they were intending to have VR elements to this title too. Shame, would've been a lot of fun. Still, decent game for its price if you want something visually busy and arcadey to mess with now and again~

Although the updated visuals are nice everything else feels unfinished. It lacks the character and bombast of "Aaaaa for the Awesome" which was full of great music, voice work, jokes, and stupid little extras. My other issue here is that you just don't feel like you're falling vertically in this game, more flying horizontally. This is another thing "...for the Awesome" did much better.

A worthy game in its own right for fans of the original titles. The controls are a bit different in this iteration of the series, but not to the point of detracting from this new experience, (though I do prefer the old style as it was perfect). Graphic fidelity is much improved. Comparing it so rigidly to the originals and downvoting to oblivion is basically judging it by how much it isn't like those games, which seems an odd choice. The game is solid base-jumping fun, per usual, though it could use some polish. Still worthwhile, if not much of a remaster in any meaningful sense.
