About Abandoned Archive

Abandoned Archive is a uniquely crafted, fast-paced, spellcasting roguelike. Set in an archive that has been long forgotten and sealed away, the player must venture deep below ground to uncover the dark secrets tucked away.

Spells & Relics

Discover the many schools of magic, and utilise their spells to fight your way down the tower you are sealed in. Battle with anything from lightning and air to gravity and time. Becoming powerful requires you to synergise your spells by carefully choosing upgrades and collecting rare relics that offer passive effects to be combined with your finest abilities.

Descend with Oblome

When one day you find yourself sealed in a tower, a strange, sentient Orb proposes a deal. With Oblome the Orbite, who claims to be one with science, you forge onwards in an attempt to escape your imprisonment and find the city of Orbites. Tied to your pact, you must protect Oblome at any cost if any danger arises, and in turn, he will protect you. There is definitely something stowed away, some kind of synthetic horror at the base of this archive. Will you delve deep and decipher the mysteries? Or will you simply succumb to your surroundings?

Story

Set in the country of Gratissia in the tower named “Turrim”, Abandoned Archive has the player exploring fragments of a species’ past, floor by floor. With an exiled ex-scientist as your guide and protector, there seems to just be many burning questions, with answers hiding in the cracks of the archive.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this roguelike for its solid gameplay, fast-paced action, satisfying progression where you become overpowered, and good value for the price, with particular appreciation for the level design and build depth. Common complaints center on the lack of meta-progression between runs, missing quality-of-life features like a map and bestiary, and a steep initial difficulty curve when encountering new bosses and areas.

For what most assumed a joke game, it's pretty good. Despite the dev being known for something completely different it has no real connections and can stand as a good product as itself. I'll admit I am not the biggest fan of rouge-likes leading to my low playtime, but that is a product of me being addicted to a different.

Difficulty-wise, game can be a little hard at start, usually whenever you’re facing new boss or area, but you know what you are doing, you can get very OP and melt every enemy in few seconds. And since game restarts immediately after death, you can immediately start a new run within few seconds. Honestly, my only two issues with Abandoned Archives is lack of any map to see if you fully explored current level and a tab where you can read upon everything you encountered in it. Overall, a short and enjoyable dungeon crawler, especially when you consider its price.

This is a high-paced, action packed rouge-like, packed with lore, and the level design hints at a deeper secret behind the underground structure. The more I play the more precise my movements become and the more intricate I can make my build.
