About Across

ACROSS is a roomscale VR game, where you are tasked with a simple objective : cross the room.

Each level has a start portal, an end portal, ... and things in between.
You can count on two things to help you defeat each level : a glowing katana that cuts through everything and reflect projectiles, and a furry B.E.A.R. that you must protect at all costs.
 • 25 levels - about 1 hour of playtime.
 • Change the color of your weapon at will.
 • Not a wave shooter : ACROSS makes you think and observe before acting (well, except for that one level).
 • Roomscale VR : Makes full use of the HTC vive capabilities. ACROSS is played standing, and without pressing any button.

Fun puzzle game, that is probably too highly priced. You have to cross a room, there are obstacles so you have to think your moves. You have a katana to help you with the things in your way. Performance is great, graphics are allright for what the game is trying to do. The game is cleverly done, puzzles get challenging soon enough and require you to move siftly. I got this game on a sale or in a bundle i cant remember, i recommend it if you get it like that, because i dont think its worth it full price, but on a steep sale or as part of a bundle i think it would be a puzzler to take a look at.

+Interesting Gameplay +Dodge and hit things +Only Uses Play Area -Price = Content -Kind of boring -Clunky Controls 2/5 Interesting Idea that is definitely a fun experience, just not worth the price for how much of an experience it is. This is a hard pass. The puzzle elements are actually quite interesting. But a clunky interface and design choices fail to make something worth while playing. Also, why a bear? If this was an inside joke, let us in on it. It just seems random and ill fitting in the Sci-Fi game world you've got going on here. Still, I hope the developer continues as there is potential here.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers. Updated Full Review August 5, 2018
Note for Oculus users on Windows 10: you need to do a Windows 7 compatibility fix and start game straight from Steam VR (not library) This is a physical puzzle game that requires thinking and quick, but controlled reflexes. Because of those requirements, I am stuck on the 10th level. I even cheated and looked up a YouTube video to see how it's done and I couldn't master those movements. I'm not sure if the light saber is aligned correctly though as you do need to twist your wrists significantly to get the right angle on reflected enemy projectiles. Even though you have a teddy bear in your right hand, this is not a kids game. It requires someone with some dexterity to get past some of these challenges. The action (at least on Oculus) occurs from left to right. You will be walking at least a few steps (depending on your height / stride) from the start to finish line with your teddy bear. You will avoiding enemy projectiles and / or repelling those attacks with your light saber whilst protecting the teddy bear and your head. The teddy bear is the target for the enemy. S…

It runs smooth, looks good enough, sound effects are satisfactory, and the puzzle go from super easy to very difficult. So difficult, in fact, that I got to level 25, tried it a dozen or so times, and had to rage quit :-D As other reviewers have said, it's all about situational awareness, making use of the slow-time mechanic which occurs when your bear is near (but no hit by!) a laser. Some levels introduce new mechanics that don't exactly make sense the first time you encounter them, but I figured them out after a failure or two. I would not pay full $8 for this game ever, but since I got it in a bundle deal for effectively $0.32, I'll give it a THUMBS: UP!
