Title Action Alien Survival Review Rating ★★☆☆☆ Action Alien Prelude, developed by Devdan Games, presents players with an intriguing yet somewhat mixed bag of experiences. This game attempts to fuse elements of action, sci-fi, and survival genres, resulting in a title that has its moments but also leaves room for improvement. Gameplay and Mechanics The gameplay in Action Alien Prelude revolves around survival against waves of extraterrestrial enemies. Players must look for resources, manage their health and ammunition, and utilize a variety of weapons to fend off the incoming threats. The controls are serviceable, allowing players to navigate the game's environments and engage in combat without major issues. However, the movement and aiming mechanics could benefit from further refinement, as they occasionally feel clunky and imprecise. Atmosphere and Setting One of the game's strengths lies in its atmosphere and setting. The science fiction backdrop fits well with the shooter formula, and the alien designs are varied. The environments, while not incredibly detailed, manage to create a sense of tension and urgency. However, a lack of diversity in level design can make the experi…2 found this helpful
As a successor to the original cult classic Action Alien by DevDan Games I feel that this is unworthy. To start out there is only one consolidated game mode, that being accessed by a single "START GAME" button. I feel that the original captured the essence of a mission mode and arcade/ survival very well and I'm not sure why they did not continue this into the next game. The original's items call back to older FPS games like DOOM, with the items being still on the floor and only picked up when needed and the guns are switched with the E key. This game adopts a newer style with floating items that have huge names below them that don't disappear until you are noticeably far away. This game keeps the old destructible structures which is good but i believe this is on another engine which has different movement to the smooth UE movement of the older one, also having much worse "bunny hopping" (if you could call it that) which was disappointing as my play style consisted of said movement. The "story" itself (which I'll admit was thin to none in the first game) is lackluster as the intro is just a text box and the starting area is a little to close to the action as the first game eased…1 found this helpful
Note: Because this game is just a copy + paste of "Action Alien", my review is likewise going to appear similar to my review for that game, because it's the same game. It's unclear why the developer dumped the same game on Steam twice, apart from perhaps to try extort more money out of gamers. It's not okay to do this. Action Alien: Survival (Prelude?? The developer gave this copy + paste of Action Alien two different names!) is a rather poorly made FPS where for whatever reason you're in a little town surrounded by spelling mistakes, terrible English translation, and most amusing of all, identical copies of a gas station and a motel. Like exact same copies + pastes of the same asset. Yep, this is an asset flip. Not a scammy one as far as I can tell, but still a bunch of assets thrown in a blender and dumped out on Steam despite having no value as a video game. It's clunky, unpolished, controls are locked, and the asset flipped AI monsters are laughably dumb. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality game this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything …1 found this helpful
