About Alien Breed 2: Assault

✦ AI summary

Blast your way through a devastated alien spacecraft as Chief Engineer Conrad, fighting swarms of intelligent extraterrestrials and uncovering a sinister mystery while racing to restart the ship's engines. Packed with intense arcade-shooter action, tactical weapon upgrades, and multiple modes including solo campaign, survival waves, and two-player co-op, this Unreal Engine 3 sci-fi shooter delivers relentless combat across richly detailed environments.

Can you survive the alien onslaught? Alien Breed™ 2: Assault is the second chapter in the Alien Breed™ series, and is an explosive science fiction arcade-shooter with an epic story, swarms of highly intelligent alien enemies, high-impact weaponry, highly detailed and rich environments, developed using Epic Games' Unreal® Engine 3. Take control of the hero, Conrad, the ship’s Chief Engineer, and continue your fight for survival across the fatally damaged space vessel, against a ruthless assault by an alien horde. Your only hope relies on reigniting the alien space craft’s monstrous engines to rescue you from impending annihilation. Deep inside the bowels of the unfamiliar craft, and with time rapidly running out, ready your weapons and begin to claw your way through the darkness in a fight for survival. But you are not alone. The ship is home to the carnivorous alien horde and something else ... something yet to reveal its true intentions ... something biding its time. In addition to the thrilling single-player campaign and all new “survivor” modes, the game also offers relentless, action-packed, two-player online co-operative battle modes.

I attempted to play multiple times but it just kept crashing on me. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, verify integrity but still had the same problems.

Just finished Alien Breed 2 and honestly… I spent half the game feeling like a space janitor with a gun and no budget. The atmosphere is chef’s kiss though. It's dark, creepy, and constantly whispering “you’re about to run out of ammo.” Which you will. A lot. Loot is so scarce that finding a single medkit feels like winning the lottery. It’s tense, a bit unforgiving, and somehow makes opening a locker more exciting than most boss fights. If you enjoy being underprepared in a space nightmare… this game gets it.

The game is not bad, quite short, but that's good because it gets repetitive quickly. The story is not bad. The explosions could have been smaller and the controls more stable. For me, the big minus is the upgrade system. Too small and too expensive. There are only three upgrades for the hero, for each weapon there are also three, but you can only use one and most always for more power. And nothing is saved if you start a free game. The prologue is a separate level from the campaign and is activated separately. Best with a discount. It just copies the review from the first game and there's not much difference anyway. Two weapon has been renewed and the bazooka is bad for playing in what is most often a narrow space. There are arenas but they are not anything special. Good story and the same gameplay without any improvements.

In 2010 the name Alien Breed wouldn't have turned many heads or caused concern. Nowadays... I don't think you can get away naming anything "Breed"... This modern release of Alien Breed was a big milestone for Team 17 in my opinion, as this game series was one of their first ever developed on the Amiga/MS-DOS back in 1991. This successor is similar to their classic release, top down shooter with a heavier emphasis on story when compared to other T17 games and 2010's arcade releases alike. I can't prove that Alien Breed inspired VALVe's Alien Swarm... but it sure does feel like it... and for good reason. It's simply fun and afforadable

Super fun solo game! Take the atmosphere of Dead Space, aliens like in the Alien franchise and simple puzzle solving from boomer shooters and you get the Alien Breed series!

https://youtu.be/L1fSNI5IoBY One game stretched across three titles with little to no variation in the mechanics or systems between them.
