Super fun game, excellent visuals and runs great on older hardware too!

I kickstarted this game a while back and played a little bit on launch, but only got through the career game mode now. I believe this game is wonderful and I would give it a 10/10 if it wasn't for a few small details. I am a very poor racer and completed the game on the easiest difficulty. I Aced some of the stages on the hard difficulty, but I wanted to enjoy the game rather than stress over perfecting courses to narrowly squeeze out victory. Rather, I wanted to go FAST. And buddy, this game lets you go FAAAAAAAAAST. It's very reminiscent of F-Zero racing titles and lets you push the boundaries of controllable speed. Some stages that works extremely well, letting that speed be the only focus. Some stages you have to implement some movement mechanics, and coming from me who completed the game on easy, I'd recommend you learn those. Each stage has a unique look that offers different challenges and kept me engaged, looking forward to the next track. Also a plethora of characters with differing stats which creates more challenges and replayability. The first F-Zero like game I've played that properly conveys the sense of speed and executional depth that made the series so successful. The game handles beautifully and feels intensely rewarding to learn, and the graphical presentation is largely functional but has some excellent character designs on display to give each racer a sense of individuality and charm. Also, learning that the soundtrack by Myrone was no surprise - The music in this game is absolutely stellar. Well worth a purchase, I can only imagine what this game will look like at 1.0.

It's pretty much everything I'd want out of an F Zero X spiritual successor.

Aero GPX has secured #1 in the GP of Anti-Gravity Racers! Those familiar with the 64 and 128 bit iterations of classic Anti-Gravity Racers will hit the ground boosting in this successor. Controls are tight and responsive and allow you to make the most of every little movement of the analog stick. As usual, you have a drift, boost, side bash, spin attack, and aerial mobility control. How it improves on this system is splitting up boosting and machine damage. Rather than being taken out of your health, the boost now has its own gauge. Boosting is also no longer restricted to the 2nd lap onwards, but must be earned. Since you always start with max energy in prior Anti-Gravity Racers, and the boost comes out of your energy, giving lap 1 boosting is no longer a problem because boosting must be obtained by driving over power strips. Additionally, you have two types of strips: health and boost. You can rarely collect both at once, so you have to choose self-preservation or self-enrichment.
