Age of Jura

Fun and pretty basic RTS game that is simple to learn. I beat it pretty quick but that did not bother me as it was purchased at a discount. I would like to note this game seems to hold plenty of potential and would hope for further development such as new dinos, farming, new levels, new maps and perhaps as a wish, dynamic weather. Nonetheless I'm giving this game a thumbs up for those who like older RTS games like Age of Empires and such.

Recommended A small but enjoyable RTS that really captures the feel of classic strategy games from the early 2000s. The twist with the dinosaur enemies is great — they stay docile until provoked, but once you attack, they start spawning nests rapidly, which can quickly overwhelm you if you’re not careful. It adds a nice risk–reward layer that forces you to plan your moves strategically instead of just rushing in. That said, the game can get a bit repetitive. Each island follows a similar loop: gather resources, fight smaller dinos, research stronger units, and slowly clear the island. It’s still fun, just not endlessly varied. The controls and UI could also use some polish (like better multi-unit selection), and more content such as custom maps or a procedural generator would go a long way. Still, for what it is, it’s stable, nostalgic, and surprisingly engaging — and the fact that it’s bug-free makes it stand out among many other indie releases. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into retro-style RTS games or just want a light strategy fix.

Note: Gotten on sale; have not beaten game Like Age of Empires? Like facing overwhelming odds? Then you'd probably like this game! It's [b]hard[/b], don't let cute dinosaurs fool ya, but it's got some accessibility in its keybinds, and some of the grinding requires combat to get to. But I found it quite fun and challenging.

was really hoping this game would scratch that itch but cannot make it past the spitting dino's. tried different things and large mobs. its only like the 4th level and cannot do anything else with the game. might try and pick it up again later down the road but overall frustrated with the game.

I have been looking forward to buying this game literally since release. However I always put it down on my list because it looked so basic. I finally bought it today and... I was right to put it further down on my list. The reason I most commonly hear about why people recommended it is that it's a callback to the rts games of old, that's why I picked it up. The issue? That's an insult to the rts games of old. I remember playing Age of Empire, Impossible Creatures, Age of Mythology, the OG Dawn of War games, Supreme Commander, and Total Annihilation Kingdoms to name a few, I loved those games but the core detail that all of those games did amazingly but this game fumbles the bag on that makes the entire experience so different is Resource gain/management. Literally the bread and butter of an RTS. I'm not going to sugar coat it, this game is a grind and it actively tries to make everything harder for you for taking longer, which you can't not do because it's the grindiest rts I've ever played. I've had 8 hour games of Supreme Commander Forged Alliance that felt shorter than the 1.4 hours I've just spent on one mission, 100% because the game doesn't want me to complete it. It is …
