About Jurassic Clans

Intro

A group of primitive humans finally left the cave and gathered enough courage to face the brutal Jurassic world. It's time for the hunter to become the hunted. Teeth will be met with a club, and skin will be slashed with stone and pierced with arrows. Men's clash with dinosaurs for the land's supremacy is inevitable.

Description

Jurassic Clans sets in a world where dinosaurs co-exist with primitive humans. The goal is to ensure your people thrive in this dangerous world. Survive and evolve your tribe to modern civilization by gathering resources essential to your village's expansion, research primitive technologies to improve your people's abilities, and unlock more and better tools to make sure you defend your village from animals to endure the upcoming end of times.

● Explore different locations to gather resources and find the right place to settle your village.
● Equip the natives with the best-hunting weapons available and look for food, gather fruits from bushes and trees, and fish from the rivers.
● Build and evolve your village, from a cave to primitive tents, mud houses, and stone houses. Expand your village to increase your population.
● Assign different weapons according to your needs. An Axe is better suited to chop down a tree than a knife. A spear will benefit more while hunting than a pickaxe.
● Research different technologies to improve your village and your people's skills.
● Technologies allow the creation of new tools and weapons to be used in the right actions.
● Encounter different predators. Some are carnivorous and will attack without hesitation; others are more peaceful and most likely a target for hunting. But beware, some dinosaurs are natural-born killers and will stalk, hide and wait for the right opportunity to tear off your flesh.
● Tame wild dinosaurs to suit your needs.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the unique premise of a stone age civilization builder with dinosaurs and Civilization-like mechanics, but the game is held back by frustratingly slow pacing, lack of quality-of-life features, clumsy controls, and overly dark visuals that make the screen nearly unplayable. Many also criticize it as a poorly-adapted mobile cash grab that feels unfinished and abandoned, with unbalanced difficulty that creates a grinding resource struggle with no clear path to progression.

Not a terrible game, but I can't recommend it.

4/10 4x TBS about stone age humans. TLDR: A seemingly interesting idea of building pre-historic encampments to hunt dinosaurs (yes, dinosaurs, not mammoths). But it's ruined by the absurdly slow pacing and total lack of QOL features. That, plus clumsy controls, too dark visuals, and annoying repetitive music score. Good: - unique setting of stone age and dinosaurs - it has features from Civilization series: base building, unit building, resource gathering and fighting (dinosaurs) - there are 3 tiers of equipment and weapons, from wooden to stone to iron. And a fair number of buildings So-so: - the graphics are okay-ish. But the fog of war is way too dark. Most of the screen ends up being almost black, or at least very dark - music is thematic (tribal drums) however after you listen to it for over an hour it just starts getting on your nerves. I'd imagine that a game about nature and pre-history could have other types of tribal music. Shaman-style, maybe Asian. In World of Warcraft for example, if you start playing for Taurens, their starting zone has nice tribal tracks. I mean, it doesn't have to be drumming and "uhh... ahhh" all the time Bad: - the pacing is way too slow. You …

Jurassic Clans is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app looks more sophisticated than it is, it's a simple hex based strategy game/resource juggler where you bump around on a simple procgen map and fight dinosaurs and manage your food etc. It's been done much better by much better developers with PC centric sensibilities, making this look like a very poor cousin. First I just want to point out that I'm really offended by the design inaccuracy here.. obviously humans did not co-exist with dinosaurs in the Jurassic era. Developers should try picking up, well, basically anything at all, even a 5 second glance at Wikipedia before they decide to be so horribly wrong about history, anthropology and biology. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The mobile app is comprised of somewhat mediocre hand drawn 2D illustrations instead of professional looking 3D game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of ta…

Look, I'm not going to give this a thumbs-down, because I respect the effort. But, honestly, it's too difficult for what it is. There's no clear way to get ahead. You'll quickly hit a spot where you're barely gathering enough resources to survive, get attacked by a dinosaur, and fall way behind. It feels like the proverbial deck is stacked against the player with no discernable path to advancement unless you get very lucky. And you'll realize that after you've hit the spacebar to advance to the next turn about three hundred times. It's difficult and, worse, just not very interesting. There are good points to the game (read the thumbs-up reviews) and there are bad points to this game (read the thumbs-down review); they're mostly accurate. I liked what they liked, disliked what they disliked, and in the end it's a wash -- had Gertrude Stein played Jurassic Clans, she would have reviewed it as "There's no there there."
