About Aground Zero

Good morning! I am PAI - your Personal AI - and I am here to assist you!

I apologize for awakening you early, but you have slept through the end of the world!

But don't panic, I am here to help! With me and your trusty protosuit, you'll be able to mine ores and build an underground base to live in!

There might not be sunshine down here, but at least you're not alone. I've located several other survivors you can wake up and bring to your newly constructed base!

But, if you want to reach the surface, you'll have to do more than just survive. You'll need to:

Expand and automate your base...

Get help from familiar faces...

And, I don't want to alarm you, but I'm detecting creatures down here that are definitely NOT native to Earth!

While I might not be programmed to deal with post-apocalyptic scenarios, I'm certain humanity is safe in my capable hands. With a little help from you of course!

Aground Zero is a 3D spinoff of our previous game, Aground. It takes place during the same events of the original game, although knowledge of Aground is not necessary to play.

NOTE: Only one player can use the keyboard and mouse for local co-op - every other player (supports up to four) must have a separate controller (but all four can use controllers if desired).

I liked aground. This is not aground. It is a poorly made flesh suit pretending to wear the skin of aground.

I really liked the game. It takes a completely different approach compared to the first one by going 3D, keeping some of the old mechanics but adding a ton of new ones. One thing I noticed right away is the dialogue—it shifted from the mature, serious tone of the original to something much funnier, especially when it comes to your personal AI. The progression is different too. In the first game, you started with a stone pickaxe and ended up with exotic drill. Here, you keep the same weapons but upgrade them to progress through the levels, which works surprisingly well. Story-wise, the way the dev connected this game to the first one is brilliant. It ties into both the beginning and the ending of the original Aground, and you find out some really surprising things because the story from the first game continues a little. (no spoilers!). Bonus points for the developer—I actually talked to him and he’s an awesome, super nice guy. Highly recommend! Of course, like any game, it has a few downsides. Compared to the first one, which had an insane amount of items, this one feels a bit lacking in variety. The maps are also on the smaller side, missing all those hidden areas and portals…

I've loved aground since it was a free game online. Aground 2 is a great follow on to the amazing world of aground. Collect resources and fight for survival, while building new worlds. There is so much to do and explore. I do miss the pixelated graphics of the first game, though.
