Alone With You (2021)

Alone With You is a short vn that has quite a few nice features, for a low budget and cheap vn, like animated character models and voice acting. At the same time though it also doesnt do anything especially good. The story is quite basic just like the writing. The translation isnt the best either. The character models and the few CGs that the game has are quite good, but there arent a lot of them. The settings menu doesnt really give you any options other then a sound slider. There isnt even a text speed slider. The game also only has a single save point so you cant save on choices to quickly check for different story outcomes. What is quite interesting is that the voice acting is russian which is quite unique and something I have never seen before, the quality of it is also quite low, but its still a nice touch to have. Overall a forgettable vn which I would actually neither give a positive, nor a negative rating as it is just very average and basic, however since you can get it for really cheap and it will give you something to do for an hour it isnt the worst you could do with the money. Note: This E-Book should not be confused with the 2016 console game of the same name from Benjamin Rivers/BancyCo. This E-book is a Ren'Py construction kit flip that seems to have been named intentionally to confuse gamers into buying a crap Russian E-book. Alone With You is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book was slapped together with the godawfully bad RenPy Visual Novel/E-Book construction kit, so just like no professional writing took place here, no professional game development took place either, it's just a product of filling out templates in the construction kit. The game has 4 Steam achievements, but the store page doesn’t properly label it as having achievements, which is frustrating for achievement hunters who rely on Steam’s filters. The game itself is also extremely short and basic, with limited options and only a single save point, making it difficult to replay just to see the different outcomes. It’s a simple visual novel, but if the developer went to the effort of adding achievements, Steam should at least make the game properly discoverable to achievement hunters.
