About Summer With You
"Summer With You" is a Japanese-style visual novel. A gripping story with four endings,4 endings, 10+ CG, 5+ BG, original music, and animated sprites of the main characters will allow you to immerse yourself in a cruel world of deception and sincerity, betrayal and loyalty, happiness and despair.
For Kai, every day at school is a repetition of the previous one. Bullies beat him, taunt his childhood friend Yuka, his sister accuses him of not being manly - it happens over and over again. His only joy in life is hanging out at home with Yuka and her mother, Rin, who runs a village pharmacy. Only here can he truly have fun and hide from the harsh world and all the hardships that come his way. But when he looks at Yuka's cheerful face, the realization of his weakness, his inability to protect at least her, is manifested in his mind.
"I have to save her," Kai thinks. "But how? What can I do?" "I can't even find out who is bullying her!"
Will Kai be able to save Yuka? Or... will she have to do it herself?

Story

[h2] A Difficult Read[/h2] [i]Summer With You[/i] is a tale of love and bullying and half cat girls, or something like that. I can't tell you as about an hour in, I just couldn't continue. The story is WAY too simple and incredibly boring. It wasn't able to hook me in, even if it did have some nice Russian voice acting. Sure the character art is nice, and the CGs are okay but if you want a visual novel to really capture your interest, you're gonna need an interesting plot, which this game evidently lacks. Maybe it sounds better in Russian, but as an English reader, I did not enjoy myself.
Can't recommend it. Technically speaking: No you don't have to use Ren'py when creating a Visual Novel but if you don't you have to do something at least as good. Here you can't go back if you've clicked too quickly, can't change the speed of the text,etc... Graphically speaking: Pretty generic. If it had been released two years later I would have thought that it was AI graphics. On the plus side the faces are animated (not very well but still). The voices: well not everybody is made to dub an anime character. There's got to be emotion in there. And mixing -kun, -sensei with a Russian accent is pretty weird. The dialogs: The translation could be better. And those dialogs ugh. Here's the beginning of a dialog: "Do you want to be my boyfriend. Yes Why not. You have big breasts". The story: It is supposed to be about bullying but in fact almost everybody in this story is a psychopath and I wouldn't want to meet them IRL.
I enjoyed the visual novel. I haven't played one in a while and this was a nice short relaxing visual novel to play for an hour or two. I did get frustrated because I tried getting the two love endings and after attempting all kinds of combinations gave in and checked out the discussions page for the game. Overall, I love the art and story that went along with it.
