✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's unique approach to FPS gameplay with its nanosuit abilities and open-ended design, with some calling it competitive with major franchises, though performance runs well on modern systems. However, the experience is undermined by numerous balance issues including weak weapons, overly perceptive AI, and mechanics like silencers that don't function as intended, culminating in frustrating crashes during the final boss fight that significantly damage what could otherwise be a solid game.

At this time with the PIF owning >90% of EA and their aggressive push towards AI, this company can not be trusted. Andrew Wilson, you are the scum of the Earth.

This is a good game to get the feeling of what most FPS single player games were like pre 2010. The overall series story writing took a turn for the worse by the end of crysis 2 and 3, but it is a great ride up until the end of 2. Overall this game and the 2nd are a blast with moment to moment engagements and a feeling of overcoming impossible odds with the help of your Nano suit. If you are looking for a good FPS single player experience this is perfect. A short and satisfying 7 or so hour campaign and hours more entertainment if you play the expansion and the Cryserv mod for multiplayer. The gameplay is there and the story is serviceable with a great twist if you don't know anything yet. I would say this is what PC gamers had instead of a halo exclusive on xbox or killzone on PS3. This made the statement intended by Crytek about the capabilities of a true PC oriented project. Edite: also it has come to my attention that if you want the true feature full crysis experience you must get this version and not the remastered. A certain mission is cut from the remastered due to them for some unknown reason using the console port version of crysis in their development of the remaster. …

This game is almost 20 years old but by God does it still hold up after all these years. It took a little bit to get it to run on Win 11 but just a quick GitHub download, Copy & Paste, and then a little edit to the config file for the game to render at 1440, it's running and smooth. The visuals still look great all these years later, the destruction and physics are still great and add a lot to the gameplay, the combat is awesome and the 4 different suit abilities just make you feel like such a badass. It is a nice reminder of just how ahead of its time the game was. Crysis 2 & 3 were okay games, but C1 is just so much better. If you never experienced this game 2 decades ago, it is still amazing even today. Some things may not have aged well, but barely as again this game was so ahead of its time.

Legendary game of childhood

Still a masterpiece, even if the last quarter is significantly weaker and CPU performance can be a bit of a problem. Besides that, the Steam version is broken and requires some tweaking to even boot.

Used to love this game, now it won't launch because of incompatibility issues. Which is quite pathetic considering the ancient games I can play on my PC without any trouble. Can't recommend in its current state.
