✦ AI summary

Players criticize Ancient Medieval Empire as a low-effort asset flip with poorly balanced gameplay, technical annoyances like mandatory game restarts to spend currency and non-resetting progress, and repetitive AI difficulty scaling that becomes trivial once you discover exploits. A few appreciate it as a simple god game experience, but the overwhelming consensus is that it's a barebones, cash-grab title with persistent frustration in its design and no meaningful depth or polish.

Lucky me gets to write the first review for yet another Neki4 Electronics Gamemaker Studio asset flip. Ancient Medieval Empire is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from copy+paste repeat offenders, Neki4 Electronics. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects for Yoyogames/GameMaker Studio, change the name and a few cosmetic details, and try to scam people into paying for someone else's work on Steam. They have run asset flip scams dozens of times, and this is no exception (just look at their other games on Steam). It's nothing but a cash grab. This time they've ripped off a basic template for a 2D retro pixel Galcon ripoff tower rush game. GameMaker Studio itself is a terrible game construction kit, and this asset flip shows just how bad things can get when templates/tutorials/demos from that construction kit get dumped on Steam as complete games. Asset flips and other "Fake games" (as Valve calls them) are harmful to the industry, because they pollute the marketplace and reduce the visibility and exposure needed by genuine indie developers. In line with dishonest asset flippers, the game was dumped immediately at launch into DailyIndieGame shovelware bundl…

Pretty boring and easy No way to reset the game, just always continue from whatever level you stopped on even if you uninstall it. It's you vs 1 ai. 1st game you start with 1 tower and the ai starts with 2 towers, next game ai starts with the same and after that every new level the ai gets a free tower at the beginning. So 3rd game you 1 ai 3 and so forth. You get coins to upgrade from each tower you own. You can only spend those coins by exiting and restarting the game. Settings don't keep. Every time I restarted the game to spend coins I had to adjust the settings which I found really annoying. If you capture every city and leave the ai 1 city, you can just let the game run forever racking up coins which makes the game very easy especially since you get to upgrade and the ai always stays the same. All you do is wait for your city to recruit 20 units then send them off you capture another city. You always send half and then you have to click the same tower to send the other half. Ai always sends all at once. Your soldiers kill the units stationed there and then damage the tower. You just keep sending units until they capture it. That's all there is to it. Paid 15 cents for …
