Ancient Wars: Sparta Definitive Edition

Bought to support the devs. Played a lot back in the day. Really dislike the caravans for mining, it's sooo slow. Game runs well, there's several bugs (wrong names for characters in campaigns, etc.) which I would hope will be fixed in the future. For now, it scratches that nostalgia hit.

This game is awesome. It's an RTS that plays a lot like Age of Empires and Command and Conquer (generals ) combined. Despite playing a lot like AOE it reminds me slightly more of the gameplay from C&C (despite the ancient setting. It doesn't play much different from the earlier titles, some of which I played as abandonware, but the visual update/QOL updates for modern systems means it's a slightly better looking game then it could be. There are some mechanics reworks and campaigns/content being added, but with a game like this I think that is acceptable. Especially because the developer is also working on an HD version of the OG game(s) that will give the OG experience that will actually work on modern systems. So those who want no change still have that option :) This is actually 2 games in one. Ancient Wars: Sparta and its spiritual successor "Fate of Hellas." This is just AI slop now, don't buy until a few more years as even now there are issues with pathfinding, bugs, AI, units not following orders and the list goes on.

Game is good but pathing is dead mid/late game , AI takes advantage of this they just put catapults and such behind their buildings and you just watch as your Formidable army is frozen in their tracks due to pathing being dead

Game would be really cool, sadly theres big problems which makes this game unplayable. 1. A lot of crashes, errors etc like memory leak etc. 2. Omega garbage units pathfinding and sometimes they dont listen u orders (maybe its some units mechanics which makes u units reta**** if yes then its even more stupid) 3. Very boring and stupid AI. 4. Garbage pathfinding and garbage walls which are to small and units have bug collision on them. 5. Some weird animations bugs like big crossbows (those which u need to place on units) sometimes get bugged position of the crossbow. 6. Too small maps (cant almost build anything in most maps, especially walls) 7. For sure game needs more maps. 8. Gates, would be actually good to have posibility to place units on top of the gates. 9. No possibility to select spawns. 10. And most important, very bad optimization when theres more units, even on very good PC's, so theres no point to play with more than 4 players/ai, unless u like to play with less than 30fps.
