Explore the newly discovered island of Anakalys where new species of creatures, called Emergent Organisms, now roam freely! The island awaits!
Welcome to Anakalys, an island seemingly born from the mists! You play as the Rookie Resarcher, a newbie looking to make their name as a researcher in the modern age of exploration. Dr. Cooper, a legend-turned-hermit researcher, discovered this mysterious island, and he wants YOU to research its inhabitants! In this single-player open-world exploration game, you'll journey the island yourself!
Anakalys is home to a vibrant jungle environment, the perfect home for an exceptionally cute selection of animals to roam about. Additionally, Anakalysis is home to a unique phenomena of floating chunks of land, which may lead you to new places...
On the island, you'll be tasked with photographing the EO's with your trusty camera! Take photos of the organisms doing their day-to-day routines such as eating, bathing, and socializing! Completing specific objectives will reward you with some money, which can be used to purchase player equipment! Additionally, the EO's will leave a number of valuable pick-up items around the island to help speed up your equipment funding. With equipment, you'll find that exploring the island will be a breeze!
There are multiple upgrades available to help you maneuver around the island. With enough objectives completed, no place will be unreachable for the stalwart Rookie Researcher! For example, double-jump boots will definitely get you over some of those pesky floating platforms!
Additionally, completing objectives will help fill out your research database, powered by the Advanced Data Terminal (aka the A.D.T)! Each step gets you closer to fully uncovering the mysterious life on the island, with three unique EO's to become acquainted with.

I'll give the game the positive I can give it, which is the sprites are very lovely and remind me of Scribblenauts. Unfortunately, the positives stop there. I think the game does have potential, so in my opinion, these things could have improved it: - Smaller sandbox. It's pretty big, but mostly empty, and it would be better to have a smaller sandbox that feels lively than a huge one with nothing. - Controls seem wonky? sometimes you have to spam snapping pictures so they're actually registered. - A few more assets + polish to the 3D models. I have no problem with the 2D sprites, they're clean and cute, but the 3d models need either more shaping/polish or more elements so the low-poly isn't the sole focus, as I feel it takes too much away from the sprites. Nevertheless, it does have potential, but it's not really fun to play due to too much empty walking and repetition.4 found this helpful
"Animal Tracker" is a studio tech demo from a fledgling game studio that seems to have probably collapsed (undoubtedly the low quality of this failed, low-key asset flip is a lot to do with it). What do you do in the game? The game itself is a simple "adventure sandbox" where you run around as a billboarded hand drawn sprite in an asset flipped low poly tree environment and take photos of some other billboarded sprites. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever (I think the 2D sprites are bespoke... they're completely mismatched against the asset flipped trees I've seen in a million amateur asset flips, and it looks bad... consistency in visuals is king). Gamers can tell fake stuff and flips... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. Downloaded it only because it was free. I feel robbed anyway.
Game is really fun and easy to play. Like a sandbox Pokemon snap. Different setting as well. The animals are cute and if you take your time and be patient you can figure out their habits, which will help you along in the game. A decent amount if quest for just launching as well. Great to relax and just explore while studying the local fauna. Couldn't recommend this game more.
