About Anx Defense

Defend your Nexus by placing various buildings on the path of your projectiles. Deflect, empower, manage and solve each map using your creative and strategic mind.

Anx Defense is a mind-bending twist on the Tower Defense genre.
Place various buildings on the path of your projectiles to create your ultimate defense!
Everything comes at a price though and you will need to manage your available gold, space and Mana wisely.
Mirrors make the projectiles do a 90° turn and they can be hit from both sides.

This unique mechanic offers a lot of creativity when it comes to solving the map's puzzle.
As the game progresses this will become more and more difficult, as you'll have to keep these things in mind:
  • Avoid obstacles
  • Cover every monster path
  • Reach each path in time
  • Projectile should be strong enough while crossing a path
A projectile passing through 3 Damage Enhancer and then 3 Speed Enhancer.

Use various Gates to empower your shots!
Enhance damage, speed, piercing or infuse Mana to your projectiles by placing the corresponding building on their way.
You'll also need to build some farm to boost your economy, otherwise you won't be able to make it until the end.
Projectile passing through a Blue Mana Infuser, a Yellow Mana Infuser and a Damage Enhancer. (with Mana Overlay activated)

Gates will need Mana to activate. Manas are infused to projectiles by passing through Mana Infusers (special buildings).
There are two types of Mana -- Blue and Yellow -- and later on in the game, some Gates will have Mana Conditions. This means that in order to activate, the Mana Levels will need to satisfy some special conditions (for instance, holding more Blue Mana than Yellow Mana).

This mechanic leads to an intricate puzzle of Mana management.
Mana Conditions also change with each level, meaning the Mana management puzzle needs to be re-solved by the player each time.

Campaign & High Scores

The campaign features a list of levels, each with its own map, building restrictions and Mana Conditions.
Each level also comes with up to 3 challenging High Score goals to reach!

✦ AI summary

Players praise this game as a unique puzzle-focused take on tower defense with clever mechanics like reflectors, grid-based placement, and the ability to adjust builds mid-wave, drawing comparisons to Zachtronics-style puzzle games. However, many find the difficulty curve punishing and overly restrictive, with level design that seems to force single solutions rather than allowing creative problem-solving, making progression feel unfair after the tutorial.

It's more of a puzzle game than a tower defense game. The difficulty curve is too unreasonable, and the difficulty increases sharply after the tutorial. The levels don't give me a sense of design, and the restrictions are extremely harsh, as if the developer first decided on the solution to the level, and then designed the map based on the solution and killed other possible solutions.

I'm only one hour in, I'm sure I'll be playing more but I don't wanna forget to leave a review. There are a lot of really good things going for this game, and make it stand out from other tower defense games. Losing a wave only deals 1/5 damage, so it doesn't matter how many enemies get past your defenses. You can sell everything for 100% of its original cost, so if you setup isn't working you can start from scratch, you can rotate and move buildings during a wave, and more. My favorite thing though, is the reflector mechanic. Also, it's grid-based which is nice.

A very tentative thumbs up. Not sure I really consider it tower defense as much as a puzzle game. You only get one tower that shoots 'glimmers', mirrors that can alter the trajectory ninety degrees, then a series of towers that add to the glimmer in various ways. Increased damage, and so far add piercing, and speed up, though the speed up seems broken. I had a glimmer go thru five different speed up buildings, and only had a speed of 4. When they went thru one, they had a speed of 3. There are also farms to grow money, but they have four or more turns to pay for themselves. None of the towers can be upgraded thru coin, you can only buy more towers, and I don't always (or so far often) have new towers to build. I feel like you need to have figured out the exact right way to lay things out to win, which isn't really my kind of game. Nice slow tutorial though, and everything seems to work, so I gotta give it one thumb up. Don't think it is ever going to be a favorite though. Got it in a good sale (two bucks US), so should you. ADDENDUM: About two and a half hours of entertainment. There is more game, but it got too frustrating for me. Still, got my moneys worth. Might come back for …

WHY THE ACTUAL HELL DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 30 REVIEWS?? More people need to buy this game, it's good, I may have only played for 2 hours but I assure you I'll be playing more (it's programming and wiring but also a tower defense puzzle game, I've managed to make spaghetti akin to Factorio-esque spaghetti, it's glorious I love it more people need to buy this game).

Fun take on the tower defense genre, I find it similar to some Zachtronics games for example, you can build elaborate contraptions and complicated machines to defeat the waves of enemies!

A bizarre and unique puzzle game masquerading as a tower defense. Very polished, and has a strong audiovisual design. Very challenging.
