Aokana - Four Rhythms Across the Blue

Aokana Great game overall, decent story writing as well the only down side I would give is that in order to play this with the h-scene on is downloading the patch + the H-Scene goes away when you uninstall and re-install the game

I will do anything to protect the smiles of these girls.

TLDR: Romance and sport stuff done right, really great VN. highly recommended. Aokana is a VN about a fictional sport called flying circus (FC), basically a flying sport using science fiction shoes. The common route establish the setting well despite being slow and whiling giving a sport anime. For the character route, It's a mix of sport anime and romance that really goes well together as you cheer for the heroine of your current route. There are 4 routes, 1 great, 1 mid and 2 peak. I highly recommend playing Asuka's route first because the ending of the common route kinda lead you to it and the writing is great overall. Plus, it also somewhat setup the other routes. For the other 3 routes, I will first stated that Rika's route is kinda meh, it's not a bad writing but it's not great either. In my opinion, this route feel like a side route. Misaki and Mashiro on the other hand REALLY surprised me, both route have a unique way of telling story that make Asuka's route feel like a vanilla flavor (hence, why I really recommend playing Asuka's route first). I won't spoil the story but I'll say that Mashiro's route have interesting perspective not in other routes while Misaki's route …

Definitely the best visual novel I have read so far. I was really engrossed in the FC matches, it was on par with watching an actual anime. All the main heroines were really likable and I actually finished every route, which I don't usually do. I recommend playing the routes as the game lays you out to do: Asuka first, then Mashiro, Rika and Misaki last. Asuka's route is the most natural route to start with. Mashiro and Rika's routes are more self contained and feels a bit more like filler than the others, even so they are still great routes and are perfect to be placed in the middle. Misaki's route was my personal favourite. It has noticeably more content and I find Misaki's character to be the most intriguing out of them all, the route also feels conclusive and serves well to be read last. Overall, this visual novel is a must play, I highly recommend giving it a try. Just remember to grab the official patch for the full content.
