Arcadie II: Cold Lands

Okay, we all miss the clear stat blocks that are standard for text adventures. I'm going to delve more into characters, they involvement in and outside the main narrative, and m/m support. Minor spoilers are littered throughout, but nothing overt that will ruin the game for you. As a queer man myself I play m/m, that's how my description will run. I have overall highly positive feelings about this game, so I will say: there are two main romance paths that are absolutely twisting and narratively intriguing, and one path that's...not so much. I think a 'true run' is either between Cyril or Stanislas, as they have a lot of deep narrative outside the main plot and their own personal complications, introductions to more characters, etc. Unfortunately, I think this round of writing failed Wilfred lovers. Cyril: Expands the world, uncovers secrets, more characters (i.e. his family that you will come to understand are quite relevant in his plot line), and makes the ending quite dramatic. Cyril is a great option for m/m lovers (I think Cyril reads as a queer man compared to the others.) There is extra dialogue pertaining to being in a same sex partnership that don't exist for the othe…

It took me eight hours to complete it, and I managed to get Stanislas's best route. I really want to give this a thumbs up, but I feel I cannot. Negatives: -Linear: The story felt more about the relationship/romance. This is both good and bad. It makes it linear? -Character interaction: Next, I would like to try Wilfred. However, when I went for Stanislas, there was little interaction with the other two. There were only meetings, which were dominated by Wilfred and Stan bickering. -MC personality: My character did not feel the same as she did in Second Born. This is the main reason why I gave it a thumbs down. -Missing of stats and relationship chart: Well, when there is less inteaction with the others, the move to remove these seems right. Positives: -The text, art and music added to the story's atmosphere. -Stanislas is a menace in all the right ways, lol! -intriguing story in Kaltland Thanks for you work dev, looking forward to the third one.

on my hands and knees begging for another sequel in this series because the story is just so damn good, i'm obsessed

Game was really good. Although there is definitely room for more, and I hope that a third game does come out! I really enjoyed this world so I'll be looking forward to returning to it again.

This was brilliantly written! A deep exploration of the relationships established in the first game and political turmoils of Arcadie.
