Enjoyable experience! A continuation of the story of the first game was enjoyable, and the polish added was very nice to see. It was short however, took me barely 3 hours to finish the game and get Wills best ending. Not sure if my choices skipped a lot of content or not though? Will definitely play and get the rest of the endings, but I was hoping for a longer experience. This game felt like filler towards -hopefully- a bigger and final installment. 6/10, if it was longer and the ending wasn't so abrupt it would be higher. Enjoyable but mildly disappointing coming off the experience of the first game :(1 found this helpful
Love the writing - It's a joy to read. Another mayor plus point: save an reload <3
Lovely game with gorgeous writing and characters just like the first. I'm hoping for a third!
Haven't felt this betrayed since Dragon Age II. 10/10 game
From the background art to the thought out dialogue, Arcadie II: Cold Lands is everything you'd want in a CYOA game. Some CYOA games focus on one single event and make you feel like you've sat down for nothing, but Arcadie does a great job of keeping you engaged the entire time. Other CYOA games I've played have made me not want to keep replaying it over and over again, but this is one that I'm actively working through over and over to get each ending, and I find myself interested each time through. I'm invested in the romance and the friendships, as well either being the best leader or the worst. Overall a great political storyline that has me yearning to write a book from all the choices I've made from the first game to this one. If you're reading through reviews to figure out if you should buy this game, do it. Give it a shot, because I guarantee you'll be as engrossed as I am!
I read many interactive novels. "Arcadie Second-Born" was one of the very few that not only impressed me but stayed with me afterwards. I'd been impatiently waiting for the sequel and it didn't disappoint! So far I've only played one route of the "Cold Lands", and I'm barely managing to stop myself from binging so I can savour it. I appreciate the effort put into the story; and on a personal note, I appreciate the effort to write a male MC and male characters. Update: I have now read through all the routes and have a couple of things to add. It surprised me to learn that I'd achieved the best endings all 3 times, because it felt like something was missing, especially with the Stanislas route. Stanislas-route was the most rushed in the second half of the story; I'd thought he would be most useful during the last task of the game given his background. But I got a bit of a whiplash, because the dynamic between him and MC kind of rolled back to square 1 (in my opinion). I kind of regretted I'd even read Stanislas route, because as it was the last one I tried - I got no new answers and no resolution to the greater story. Generally, I wish there were more to do and change in the end, a…
