About Alina of the Arena

✦ AI summary

Battle your way through a bloodthirsty arena as a gladiator in this roguelike deckbuilder that fuses card strategy with tactical hex-based combat. Position matters as much as your cards—use terrain, knockbacks, and enemy AI against your foes while crafting a unique deck and equipment loadout that evolves with every run.

ABOUT

'Alina of the Arena' is a roguelike deckbuilding tactics game that combines elements from 'Slay the Spire' and 'Into the Breach'.
Play as a gladiator that must fight for a bloodthirsty crowd to survive. With roguelike deckbuilding and hex-based tactics, players are no longer bound by simple attack and defense. Make use of dodges and knockbacks to stay alive!

FEATURES

  • Dynamic Deckbuilding
Pick up dozens of cards, keep the ones you need, and craft a unique deck as you fight your way through randomized levels that present a different challenge each run!
  • Hex-based Tactics
Unlike traditional deckbuilders that focus on attack and defense, the tactics element adds a dimension of positioning. Dupe your enemies into attacking each other, or use the terrain to gain an upper hand.
  • Dual Equipment System
Carry equipment in both hands to enhance your cards! You can dual wield daggers for extra damage, go with a sword & shield combo for rounded performance, or wreak havoc with a two-handed weapon. Figure out the best combination for each fight!

TLDR: Recommended for value. If you like card battlers, it's fun enough. I paid USD $7.45 on steam sale. Good value at this price. It's a low res budget knockoff of Fights in Tight spaces. Movement is paramount, you start with very little, good luck finding all the movement cards you need and in the end, you might not get the RNG anyway and lose. It's also a single board type, there's no RNG to the arena. There's a variety of classes, but really not much in the way of build variety.

Very interesting turn-based RPG. The hexagonal grid gives it an extra layer of strategy in the form of battle positioning that's more complex than in most deckbuilder RPGs. Great replayability. I wish I could continue following the story after the ending of this game,

i dont think i've seen any game out there that lets you: move to a tile with a rock pick up said rock yeet it at the boss that has a 1 hit damage mitigation and break said mitigation before beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of it peak gaming right there

Frickin' love this game. Combine a card building game with a movement based arena game, add different classes (with their own passive bonuses), and different weapons. Boom. Marvelous! Really can't recommend it enough. Pros: Different weapons Different classes w/unique perks that change how they attack Exceptional cards to tank, dodge, move & attack, and buffs. Cons: Not sure if there are any. Samurai is a difficult class for me to play unless I build it with daggers, but that could be a me kind of thing.

Fun and fast paced rougelike. Maybe not something you invest hundreds of hours in, but it will keep you entertained more than long enough to justify its price.
