ARENA an Age of Barbarians story

The vibe of 1987 with mature content and improved visuals. It is actually good. Some mini-games in between are a bit boring, not much interesting but can be easily passed once understood how. Also, a couple of credits but no save. So, expect having time ahead to play. The immediate thing you should do before playing is, go to options and remove the censorship. A good tribute to the first Barbarian. Works on Linux. Does not attempt to connect to the internet. Thanks! Good game.

Personally, the game IS fun despite it's flaws and very short length per run, but it takes a good bit of getting used to the system. I first brought it years ago after playing the original Age of Barbarians but mostly put it down because I couldn't get used to it at the time, but with Chronicles just releasing, I decided to play a bit more of it and have gotten decently good at it, completing it several times over with different characters. It plays A LOT like a classic arcade cabinet fighting game, you get a series of fights with either corridors of traps or other short minigame segments between them. You have two lives and each death afterwards deducts 10 minutes form the total 60 minutes timer. There's no saving between fights so if you lose a run, you need to start again from the begining. A run overall though shouldn't take you any longer than maybe 20 or so minutes so your timer does give you a fair few extra lives if you need them. The fights against human enemies are, for the most part all pretty good, the lower points of the game tend to the segments where you fight beasts are a bit more janky and one boss in particular beast that you MUST face in order to get the desir…

ARENA is a fun and fast-paced arcade combat game set in a classic sword & sorcery world. The fights are brutal, skill-based, and very entertaining if you enjoy action games. I recently also played Age of Barbarians Chronicles on Epic Games Store, which in my opinion goes further in terms of depth, but ARENA definitely has its own charm and strengths. It’s a great introduction to the Age of Barbarians universe and still a very enjoyable game if you like pure action and old-school fantasy vibes.

I can't remember the last time a game gave me this good a feeling. Fight your way to the oracle before she is sacrificed - you have an hour to do so. Every arena playthrough is unique, with lots of moving parts. Lots to master. The atmosphere is electric, and filled with genuinely amazing writing. A touch of class, if you will. Remember playing Disney's "The Lion King", and getting to the wildebeest stampede for the first time? Get ready to have that feeling again. Get ready to master that feeling, again. And get ready for a way better reward, delivered alongside an awesome heavy-metal soundtrack. Can't recommend this franchise enough.

Not big on the clunky gameplay and the game crashes way too much to get anywhere.

Worst game of the franchise. If only they made a fighting game without the traversal. The best way to make this game decent would to remove the traps sections, as they extremely time consuming and not necessary to the plot.
