Asteroid Girl is a Shoot 'Em Up game. Where to begin... let's cut to the real reason you should avoid this game: the controls. Whether you're using a keyboard or a controller, no matter how you try to approach moving in this game, you move at least 100 pixels with every input. So imagine you're trying to dodge a projectile that will hit you head on... you move downward ever so slightly and little Asteroid Girl goes slamming into the other projectiles much further under your character. Now it wouldn't be so bad if the game had any continue system, but after 4 hits, you are dead. The game has 4 levels with 4 bosses. If you dare getting hit even once, your weapon resets to level 1 and you can barely clear the insane onslaught of enemies on the screen until you loot 2 weapon upgrades again, which if you don't have any firepower to begin with... will most likely kill you. Monsters can shoot straight at you, in diagonal and backwards, so if you keep more than 1 or 2 monsters alive, you're asking for a random bullet to kill you. Between your bullets and the enemies, it gets super confusing which are which. Oh and did I mention that when you finally die, you restart from the BEGINNING? …

"Asteroid Girl" is a simple and pointless side scrolling arcade shmup where the developer gleefully ripped off the artwork style of Nickelodeon's Powerpuff Girls. It's hard to find originality in the shovelware section of Steam Direct. What do you do in the game? Really poorly done, unpolished and janky bullet hell shooting. Frankly, the entire game itself is less interesting than the fact the developer seriously thought people would give him money for this. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. I guess it has a cute artstyle, but the game itself is trash. You have 4 lives, but once you die, youre not even going to survive 2 seconds, because you need to collect stars from the enemies, but you cant kill the enemies if you dont have any uprades and if you manage to, you need to collect the star, which is impossible when there is 100 enemy projectiles that you need to dodge. You also move a little too many pixels, so dodging the projectiles is mostly about luck and spamming two keys.
