Just play some Duke Nukem or River City Ransom.
21 found this helpful
Not half bad... but good gameplay is nowhere to be found either. If you like really repetitive smash em ups with some interesting looking environments though you can do a LOT worse on steam. Trust me I know... so a tentative thumbs up if you can get it in some cheap bundle or 75% off. It doesn't feel like a cheap asset knock off and nowadays that's something commendable on this storefront.19 found this helpful
Atomic Adam is a 2D retro pixel brawler where you control a pixellated action hero brawling various crazy/silly opponents on a 2D/3D plane. The camera angle is set quite low which is the only key differentiator for this game over other brawlers of the same kind. The control schemes are quite bad, and as usual, lazy retro pixel graphics make the game look bad too. Pixel games died out when modern computers developed the capability to deliver graphics of higher fidelity. The retro movement is just a greedy cash grab trying to extract money from nostalgic millennials, which we definitely see here with Atomic Adam: Episode 1. Overall the graphics and gameplay are bad, while the awful controls can be remapped, at the end of the day there's no real appeal to this game. There are plenty of brawlers using modern mechanics and graphics which are much more enjoyable.2 found this helpful
You may expect this to be a modern version of the classic Duke Nukem platformers due to the title and pixel graphics, but it's absolutely nothing like that. It's more of a River City Ransom like beat em up except you can mash one button and fly all around the screen. It's not very fun. If you were looking for a Duke Nukem like game, check out Muri.1 found this helpful
The art in this game is by far the best eye candy I've seen in a long time, so beautiful and colorful. The way the active background can be seen so far behind the character is also a really cool feature. I like seeing a towering teddy boss in the distance trampling the city. This game is like a shoot-em-up but fighter. Think TMNT or Streets of Rage Nintendo but with way better graphics and colors and more fluid controlls and character movements. The enimies will come in waves and sometimes they will flood your character so it gets hard to see where you are at times, just shoot more. I'll update this review when I've played more. Hope to see an episode 2, GG devs1 found this helpful
This game is not bad at all. It has a the feel of a game you might find in an arcade which those are a blast! You are a hero trying to save a mayors wife and as you try to acomplish this goal you encounter many different types of enemys. You can destroy them with yuor atomic powers. Great game! Still dont belive me? Go ahead and check out my video I created on it. Link: https://youtu.be/ZAEZlDN-Pkw
