"Atrius Star" is a contentless low poly/pixel textured top down shooter of very poor quality. I use the term "contentless" because the game has no content. Creating content is hard, so the developer decided that samey, repetitive, soulless procgen algorithms are an acceptable alternative to doing the job of a game developer and creating meaningful content. The developer is wrong. This features fairly low quality low poly, low rest, badly textured 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Developers must learn that Minecraft succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging a whopping $5 USD for a contentless game. No wonder it failed. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. If this were a fully fledged paid game with a little bit more love, I would play the hell out of it. I'm not trying to say that it's bad in any way, it's just pretty simple as far as gameplay goes. The aiming is a little bit on the wonky side, the camera turns with you, so it takes a bit of getting used to. This game has a retro vibe, and if this had been released back in the day, it would probably be on many people's favorite lists as a classic game. As it stands now, it's definitely worth playing if you like top down roguelike shooters. If the trailer looks good to you, you'll probably like this one.

Pros: The music is pretty cool and sets a nice atmosphere. Aiming is okay, though it could use a pointer. Cons: - The game starts off so dark that it's hard to see anything. - Enemies sometimes spawn right on top of you, making it almost impossible to avoid damage. - Leveling up doesn’t feel impactful at all ; it’s barely noticeable. - The gameplay gets repetitive quickly and lacks variety. - The game seems to be artificially hard to stretch out its length, rather than adding more content. - The character moves too slowly, and there’s no way to dodge or sprint, which is frustrating against faster enemies. - The graphics are not great - lots of pixels, and the overall look is quite poor. - It’s often hard to distinguish between XP and health pickups, which can be confusing. - There’s an annoying cooldown after shooting a few bullets, forcing you to wait before firing again. - The game isn't very rewarding, and the progression feels flat. - If you die a few times, you have to start over from the beginning, making it even more repetitive and frustrating. Игра 'Atrius Star' приятно удивила. Сначала казалась типичной космической стратегией, но довольно быстро затягивает своей глубиной и проработанностью. Строительство базы, исследование технологий, дипломатия с разными фракциями – все это сделано на достойном уровне. Особенно порадовала нелинейность развития и возможность выбирать разные пути к победе. Графика хоть и не поражает воображение, но вполне приятная и функциональная. Однако, есть и минусы. Интерфейс порой кажется немного перегруженным, особенно в поздней стадии игры, когда контролируешь множество планет и флотов. И ИИ противников иногда ведет себя странно, принимая нелогичные решения. В целом, 'Atrius Star' - это добротная космическая стратегия, которая способна увлечь на десятки часов. Любителям жанра рекомендую попробовать. Не шедевр, но крепкий середнячок с хорошим потенциалом.
