Aviators (2024)

Aviators takes a different approach to the familiar World War II setting by concentrating on the experiences of Polish air personnel and turning their history into an accessible adventure. Developed by Chronospace and published by Instytut Pamięci Narodowej, it is less interested in delivering a hardcore aviation simulation than in using interactive gameplay to introduce players to the Polish Air Force and the 1586 Special Destiny Squadron. The historical emphasis immediately gives the game a distinctive identity, especially since this part of the war receives considerably less attention in games than the major campaigns normally associated with the period. The campaign combines several styles of play instead of keeping the player permanently inside an aircraft. Aerial battles against the Luftwaffe naturally form an important part of the experience, but missions also involve exploration, environmental interaction, puzzles, operating equipment aboard a Halifax aircraft, communicating with the Armia Krajowa resistance, and participating in scenarios connected with the Warsaw Uprising. I have mixed thoughts about the game. The part where you're refueling and stuff is VERY realistic. On the other hand, as a WarThunder player with 1500+ hours on the game, it pisses me off: how in the Flying missions the bomber is basically touching the ground, how a simple 7.62mm machine gun can sink a battleship or destroy an APC. Yet i understand why the devs did that, because real bomber missions aren't the most thrilling: flying for hours on end just to get shot down by Flack. I DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THE GAME!

This game is hilariously buggy. Half my playtime was just trying to get it to work. Either the resolution crapped out suddenly, or most of the time my mouse disappeared. I was getting some gnarly screen tearing despite the game running at my monitors 144hz, not to mention that I have FreeSync. I enabled VSync and the game suddenly changed to 880x1440, but remained stretched across the width of my screen, causing everything to be ten pixels tall and stretched from one side to the other. I managed to fix this after pixel hunting for the options. There is also no ultrawide support, the 3440x1440 resolution is available, but it leaves black bars on the side, so clearly that's not right... Interacting with stuff is a pain. The cursor was missing 75% of the time, and during that time, every button I pressed made a clicking sound. I think the game thought I was still navigating the pause menu, because the clicking was similar to the clicks made when selecting an option. Finally, I attempted to balance the bomber's fuel, but nothing would work. I could not interact with the fuel toggles at all, but the pump lever worked. Fun little historical short game. The theatricals and orchestra music is a cool touch! the only critic is dialogues ... real people don't talk like that especially in the high stress situations like that 7/10

completed in under an hour was good kinda like wish it was longer but very interactive

This game is a waste of time!! There is simply NO forgiveness on doing anything in the Hangar of which I never made it out and I gave up. I am using mouse and keyboard and I was extremely angry and could not even get the pump working on the fuel truck in order to gas the spitfire. Those hits are WORTHLESS. It is common sense to twist the crank, but it is impossible to keep the stupid thing going in a fluid motion around. You definitely need some work!
