Order of Battle: World War II

Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-Save-Load-(...)-Simulator. Very interesting gameplay, but terrible implementation. Due to the acute lack of resources, the sky-high number of enemies and the limited number of turns, the player has no freedom. Each turn must be replayed several times to avoid the slightest mistakes, otherwise there will be not enough resources. And after each move you must save the game, because the next move may turn out to be wrong and you will have to reload. The gameplay is very interesting, but the level of difficulty ruined everything. Every mission wears you down like you've been working a day in the mine instead of playing a game after work. It shouldn't be like that!

Lot of good fun - teaches you a fair amount of Strategy and Tactics

Being a war history fan, I eagerly await playing this game ASAP.

SUPERLATIVE

Order of Battle: World War II is a turn based strategy game that I can easily lose a lot of time in without even noticing. I am moving units across hex based maps, taking objectives and trying to work out the best way to use infantry, tanks, aircraft and ships. It looks fairly simple when I first start playing, but there is a lot more underneath it once I start paying attention to things like supply, terrain, unit strength and positioning. It has that old school wargame feeling without making the controls unnecessarily difficult to understand. The campaign system is one of my favourite parts because my decisions can matter beyond the current battle. In campaigns where unit carryover is available, I can keep experienced units and upgrades from one scenario into another, which makes me much more careful about throwing valuable units into bad situations. There are also commanders that I can attach to units for extra bonuses, along with specialisations that let me shape my force in different ways. Good fun game with some realistic stuff . and some unrealistic stuff - like a Tiger in next hex can be killed by a Sherman . I feel that a Tiger should have blasted its enemies from couple of hexes away. The Kiriegsmarine DLC is pure fun as you can go on to more and more incredibly silly campaigns - that is if you get past the Narvik landings. The Allies Victrious and Resurgent are the standard stuff - North Africa, Sicily, Normandy, North West Europe and so on. The Pacific campaigns are good and challenging and here the AI was a bit nasty and the enemy would show up where least expected. All in all some good some not so good for both the casual and serious wargamers.
