Axom: Conquest

Fun little tower defense game with some nice progression. Edit: Unfortunately the further you get, the more your FPS suffer. After reaching stage 30 i have around 8 FPS.

The 3D physics and the more freeform enemy pathing add a good level of novelty to the genre. There are some great ideas in this game that I can imagine future TD games attempting to incorporate. That said, there are some areas where Axom just really lacks polish. Those very same features I praised above? Well, turns out that occasionally mobs jump around pretty stupidly around some cliffs, and when you throw in some weapons that have knockback, the game can get pretty cheesy. Roguelites with a wide upgrade pool also tend to suffer when careful balance isn't applied, and yeah, Axom hasn't seen that level of polish yet either. A fixable game with a good core, and the developer hasn't abandoned it yet either, so there's plenty of hope for improvement, but I don't think it's quite there yet.

I think it's a great little tower defense game!! I enjoy burning time on it when I need break or quick reset. repetitive but for the price I am not expecting a AAA title.

This is a soft no; for $10, someone is bound to love this more than I do---there is enough content to justify the cost for someone that would enjoy how this is. I don't know what it is about this game, but I can't bring myself to enjoy it as much as I should be able to. Maybe if walls redirected paths instead of becoming objects of destruction, maybe if the research didn't take as long to achieve, maybe if the upgrades and relics, which have some good ones, weren't packed with crap. Nothing seems...unique enough with what I'm doing except some random thing that happens once along the waves. I don't know. Classes...benefits besides the nexus benefits. I don't know.

In short Great mash-up tower defense with some rogue-like spice to keep it fresh. Games tough, but not impossible. Runs pretty smooth on a potato. Long Boi You're basically doing a smash and grab mission for resources. You crash land, set up a crude defenses, and then turn on the drill. Each time you drill the local (very zerg-like) wildlife says "naw-f that" and will attack your core drill and any satellite refineries. Combines a bunch of features from OG tower defense games as well as adding in some of its own flare. Some of these features are hidden behind capsules found during the round or by unlocking a new drill. It does force some meta progression as the later difficulties are near impossible without them. Some upgrades are completely essential to success. All in all, a great little time waster if you have 30 minutes to burn here and there. Manages to stay fresh with each run. 5/5
