✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise Back to Ashes' atmospheric world design and labyrinthian level layout, but nearly all reviews cite significant technical and design issues that prevent enjoyment. The most common complaints revolve around clunky controls, poor hit detection, input lag, janky mechanics, unbalanced item drops, and broken features like transmute shrines, alongside the developer's apparent abandonment of the project in an unpolished state. While some appreciate the core atmosphere and combat potential, the accumulation of bugs and unfinished mechanics makes the game difficult to recomme

This is one of those games i tried so hard to enjoy but its peaks and troughs are too much for me. The hit detection is abysmal, the enemies do not follow the same laws of physics as you do being able to interrupt their action too attack when you can't, the input lag alone makes this game unrrecommendable to anyone who thinks of DS 2 or 3 when they think of a souls like. And the kicker is that with a solo developer i could forgive all of this, they put real care into this games story and world, however the bug are unforgiveable and with the developer abandoning the game in what is essentially an Alpha state it's not going to get any better. I could go deeper into the design of the game and how some of the bosses are so poorly done they belong in another game or the ridiculous midpoint where the game decided difficulty comes from quantity of enemies not quality. I honestly think with just a little more time in the over you have a truly amazing game here, but in its current state it feels like a very sophisticated cash grab.

I can't even... I'm just disappointed in myself for buying this, and letting the refund window pass.

I kind of like it although it is a very basic game. But the overall atmosphere and the combat are quite good. Sure, combat is a bit unprecise but still fun. I would say 6/10 in the current state. The basics are good, but it would have needed more polish.

Still janky.

Unfortunately, Back to Ashes doesn't put its best foot forward. The controls are too clunky, direction is too unclear, and the game is overall too janky for me to recommend it.

I really tried to like this but just can't Too janky in almost every area Item drops are imbalanced Got upgrades but can't use, found a Transmute shrine but don't work. Enemies needs some work. Bosses are fine The only good thing about this game is it has labyrinthian design of each area if you are into that. But so many wrongs plague this game than right.
