I bought this game on Steam back in 2022 for $30 dollars. Checked it out later and now it's suddenly $40 dollars? What kind of shady ♥♥♥♥ is that? Amazing game that I played on the original Xbox with my dad back in the early 2000s. Made a ton of great memories playing this with him. But I can't recommend it if the devs are doing this though.20 found this helpful
Dark Alliance II is quite good, actually, but it's absolutely scumbag-y that Interplay quietly rose the price of this and the original DA $10 USD before a sale, then kept the raised price. On an already finished game that's nothing more than a port of the original. That has also never gone on sale for less than $20 except on EGS over 2 years ago. Don't support scumbag practices like this. Interplay, do better. 20JUL2026 Update I recently found out Interplay TRIPLED the price of their "Redneck Rampage Collection" on GOG. 1st, can't play it due to gamebreaking bugs making it so I can't access inventories 2nd, Scumbag publisher (Or whomever has this and the first game on steam) jacking up the price for the steam sale and leaving the price rised. Unless you're nostalgia-blind there is no reason to play Dark Alliance I. This is because Dark Alliance II exists and it expands on the previous title in every way— more races/classes, more exotic foes, more scenic locations, a new crafting system, and it even recycles many hooks from the original plot. However, there is also no reason to play Dark Alliance II. Simply put, it is painfully adequate, and utterly outclassed by other titles both new and old such as Grim Dawn (in terms of mechanics) or by the Baldur's Gate CRPGs (in terms of thematics). And yet I hit the "recommend" button anyway... for I confess that I am nostalgia-blind. Dark Alliance planted a seed in me, a seed of wonder on what D&D was and could be. And that seed craves nourishment now more than ever after seeing what modernism has done to D&D.1 found this helpful
