Balthazar's Dream

A game that feels like it was made with a lot of love and very little skill. A platformer that has a lot of small challenges that it presents to you to overcome to keep it fun. The problems arises when in the technical execution of the levels and the challenges. Things like, when you are afraid you can jump farther to make it over large gaps. But the problem is you stop being afraid if you get far enough away, such as, halfway across the gap when you suddenly fall like a rock. It also has a habit of pilling on multiple small challenges together to create a larger challenge that requires you to put full trust in the game while also repeatedly proving why you should never trust the game. Overall, I want to love it, but it's a very flawed execution.

The platforming is not very good and it feels like things need to be polished. I needed to have reviewed this game several years ago for a video on a youtube channel I no longer upload on but I never got around to it until now, several years later.

Short game, but has a nice story. My only slight criticism is the fact sometimes the controls has input delays. Aside from that, great game.

Fun little game. Simple platformer with mild puzzle elements. Got me to tear a little at the end. I'd intended to play this years ago but never got around to it, 'til now. Received it free from the developer in the mail, originally, I think to it was to promote it, but I had stopped doing youtube around that time... They will just have to settle for a positive review here, I guess? Regardless, I did enjoy the game and it's pretty decently challenging. Not very long, but definitely worth 5$ if you are considering to buy it, I think. The achievements also have some really hard ones to get... will appeal to kaizo-esque mario-maker level difficulty I think to some degree. Good luck. Have fun.

This game has got a lot of SOUL, a really satisfying amount of story, and a very good variety of play content. Without spoiling much, platforming makes up 75-80% of the game, and side-scrolling shooting and exploration segments make up the latter portions I will say the trailer belies a lot of the actual content, and stuck to the first four chapters so as to not reveal [i]too[/i] much. This is a game that took a long time to beat, not because of it being long, but it being poorly paced and incorrectly assuming people like me have the brain capacity to navigate a maze in the third level. This is, quite literally, the easiest way to filter a bunch of people from finishing your video game. Also, some of the RNG on the monsters in the two side-scrolling chapters were incredibly irritating to defeat. I ended up pause-scumming to figure out a path for those guys. The length of that segment should have been way shorter, and the AI more predictable. The ending chapter was very somber, but ended on a comedic note that was kind of goofy (you know, to top off all the earlier adventuring you did).
