CUTE SHORT GAME I RECOMMEND <3<3<3

What can I say - adorable

It was a freebie, so I gave it a go! And... well... I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's a platform game where you play as a battery which gains the ability to transform into household objects to defeat enemies and overcome obstacles. That's as much info as I can give you regarding the plot as the whole thing is in one of the Asian dialects so I have no idea what anyone is saying in game or what the menu options say! The graphics are cute enough and the game does a "Paper Mario" and allows you to switch perspective almost at will. The sounds and music are fine. Again using that kind of cutsey style. It's an ok little game. I ran into a couple of issues though. One was controller support. It does have it, but the "action" button also jumps, so the game gets confused when you're trying to grab a ladder and you just end up bouncing in front of it instead. Second was my character jammed on me halfway through a level. My character just wouldn't move, but I was under attack from an enemy so I know it wasn't a full game crash. Batta? Batta! is a really cute little adventure game that I liked almost immediately because of how unusual its world is. I play as a small battery trying to rescue Princess Smartphone after she is kidnapped by discarded objects, and the whole setting has this charming idea of old electronics being jealous of newer devices. It sounds completely ridiculous, but the game commits to it so well that I found myself enjoying the strange story. The gameplay mixes platforming with action and perspective based puzzles. I can jump onto different electronic devices and use their unique abilities to deal with enemies and move through the levels. I liked this mechanic because each device gives me a different way of approaching the obstacles. It makes the battery character feel more useful than I expected, and there is a satisfying rhythm to switching between abilities when the situation changes. The perspective switching is probably my favorite part. The game can move between two dimensional and three dimensional views, and I have to use that change in perspective to find paths that are not obvious from one angle. This game looks cute and unique. I wanted to play it for a long time.. So, when I installed it I was excited to play it. However, it took me awhile to figure out the language settings. I expected the game’s language settings to automatically be in English when I first launched it.. Especially since the game was promoted and advertised in English. I've played a few minutes of it and had to stop playing it.. The dialogue isn't properly coded to be in English. So, you'd randomly get Korean text and not know what's happening.. The movement is really rough.. It felt like someone quickly did the job and moved on without putting too much care into their work. When I read that it was a project to build their portfolio.. It made sense. The tutorial can be confusing. I've noticed that it tells you to press Z + C but at other times it wants you to press C + Z for the same command.. However, it doesn't work. If you can't make a proper tutorial then the game isn't playable. The combat and upgrades are boring.. It doesn't feel like you're doing anything. You're just hitting weak enemies over and over again.. Very unsatisfying. Not to mention, the music gave me a massive headache. While …

"Batta? Batta!" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from SBS Game Arcademy (sic) in Korea. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The concept of this student project is not without merit, you control a battery and engage in both 2D and 3D platforming, the big gimmick of the game is that you can switch between a 2D platformer and a 3D platformer when you need to, and this is necessary to solve some puzzle platformer problems... but as always, because this is a student project, it's not a full game, it's…
