All you had to do was made a brick-breaker game...and you failed. There's so much good about this game (powerups, old skool graphics, chip tune music) but it utterly fails in one very simple department: controls. Besides the fact that I couldn't get my controller to work, your paddle is utterly impossible to control. Rather than 1:1 control over your paddle, the bloody thing goes flying across the screen when you hold in the button. It accelerates. How are you supposed to play a brick breaker game when you paddle accelerates? Do you know how hard it is to account for a tiny ball among all the chaos on screen when your own paddle can't reliably move where you want it. Oh, and you have to Alt + F4 to go into full screen. 2020 and there's not native full screen. Thanks...2 found this helpful
Great game, but the way lives work in co-op makes it very unpleasant to play. I wrote about this to the developer in the discussions 6 months ago, and still got no reply in that thread. It looks like the developer doesn't care about the game, which is sad as it's got a lot of potential. I'd be happy to update the review if this situation changes in the future.1 found this helpful
Beautiful Bricks gives that classic retro feel if you're a fan of classic 8-bit brick breaker games. Here one for you: playing solo for a challenge or co - op play with friends is a ton of fun. Nice pixelated 8-bit graphic with classical 8-bit music to match, nice touch. It's hard to make a good classic retro game in modern day and keep it fresh and new. Also love the customize with wallpapers, and filter, my personal favorite filter is EGA gives the game a colorful, classic retro feel and a cleaner look. To change the scale, you can go to the display settings a change them to the style you like. 👉Beautiful Bricks Gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH0ruKt6C3k ++++++Beautiful Bricks Pros ++++++ Pros + Gameplay is easy to learn, fun to play Pros + Filters love the customize Pros + Solo and co-op mode, plus more Pros + Nice classic 8-bit graphics Pros + Good 8-bit music Pros + Controls are smooth on both keyboard & mouse, and controller ------ Beautiful Bricks Cons ------ Cons - Controls for the bar and ball could be smoother, but it's fine
Summary: Beautiful Bricks presents plenty of nostalgia giving players everything they love about the classics, while also adding plenty of modern twists that bring the genre to a whole new level. Beautiful Bricks isn’t just a trip down nostalgia lane, it redefines the brick breaker genre. 10/10 A full detailed video review can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVr2IKTzdXY Gameplay: As a whole the gameplay to Beautiful bricks is fantastic. The roguelike elements with the random level select and the bosses, the sheer number of power-ups and levels and the modern ball physics combined together create an exhilarating brick breaking experience that brings the genre to a whole new level. Indeed, it can be a bit overwhelming at first and the versus modes could do with a bit more polish. And while on negatives another issue that may frustrate some is that it can only be played in full windowed mode with there being no true fullscreen mode. Regardless of those issues, Beautiful Bricks is an outstanding game that isn’t just a trip down nostalgia lane, but rather a completely modern twist on an age-old formula. Great version of the brick breaker style game. The large amount of power ups and the variety between levels keeps you playing to see whats next. Nice retro style graphics and music/sound effects. There are many options to explore, I only played single player, but local multiplayer seems like it would be a lot of fun.
