Becoming a King

I bought the game for $12. Becoming a King is a CRPG Visual Novel with long list of short comings that prevent me from recommending this game. I would like to start to by saying that I really like the concept of this game, the animation and anime art style are really good, and I really hope the company cleans up the bugs in the game. I think the game would be really great if it wasn't so buggy. The game has idler combat that is broken. The skills of the player character don't have any affect on the character's performance in combat. For example: Increasing the stamina skill doesn't increase the amount of damage the character delivers or the amount of hit points the character has. The combat itself is bugged. One of the abilities in combat claims to increase attack speed but the enemies rate of healing increases during at the same time so the affect is nullified. The dialogue choices in the game is broken. After events happen in the game the dialogue with the characters will go on as if the events have not occurred. If you're looking for solely a goon game this is not it, the nudity is few and far between. Also if you're looking for high octane gameplay this is not it, the main rpg gameplay parts of it you saw screenshots of is just a optional content and relatively shallow. That said what this game does well is a choose your own adventure book life sim thing and the nudity content really adds to that. Sleeping with the various love interests also adds to the game because once you bang them they are more likely to be your ally and you have more options avaliable and it just changes the whole dynamic. I really appreciated my playthrough, I will not be playing another one though because I feel like if I do I'll see too many seams, something I thought was the result of my choice might be hardcoded in for example.

The game is way too buggy and saving has problems, besides the heroines have very few scenes, little variety.

I played this game's demo a long time back and gave it another try on steam. Upon reflecting, this game BARELY makes it into D tier. I kinda regret buying this, but its fine. There is a lot of bs you have to go through in order to get to the sparse amount of adult scenes. And once you do unlock them they are single frames that have slight movement, imo a bit of a let down. A positive tho is that the girls look pretty good and are consistently on model. I feel like this game is not terrible and not the worst Hgame ive played by far but there is just so much to be improved. Devs got potential because they got the art down, they need to pour more resources into story and the gameplay experience. Personally i thought the story was boring - too much extra information and its hard to sit and listen in on tons of dialogue when im not invested in the characters. Also the minigames and mechanics of everything just felt so uninspired. Theres a difference between simple and boring, and unfortunately this game leans more towards boring, none of the minigames or quests feel good to play through. The game as a great loop once you figure out the crit path to gain levels and rep. The lack of a certified walkthrough is rough, but some players have made some really good ones to unlock a lot of the scenes. Its gonna go down as one of my favorites despite how choice driven some characters are to unlock. Worth the buy!!
