About BLACKSHARD
through a strange megastructure, the Labyrinth, to unravel its
mysteries. Your behavior within the Labyrinth defines the
outcome of your journey. BLACKSHARD is a visual and narrative experience, a dreamlike journey
into uncharted liminal spaces. You will roam strange places,
endless corridors and unreal architectures, encountering mysterious
figures that have been forgotten for ages...What path will you take?
- Explore a unique semi-open world. Find your own way through the
Labyrinth. - Find shards of memory from those who came before. Accept the order of
things or choose a different path. - Interact with your environment. Transform the Labyrinth with
unspeakable powers, or preserve its cold complexity. Beware. You were not made for such a journey.
The Labyrinth is a dull, sterile and ordered space. It is the embodiment
of time and causality. The harbinger of the Tyranny of Fate.
I played my part. I watched over the Labyrinth. I resisted the whispers.
I did not intervene. I did not count the unclean numbers.
But the Sign promises. It offers."
What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game's incredible atmosphere, stunning visual design, and exceptional soundtrack that create an immersive exploration experience through a massive labyrinth-like megastructure. However, movement and collision mechanics are consistently criticized as clunky and frustrating, significantly undermining what could otherwise be a transcendent experience for many players despite the strong artistic direction.
This game was great. I've never had a game make me feel small and insignificant. This one did. But in a good way... there was this... place. This huge place. What's around this corner? What's around that corner? Can I get there? And when you dig far enough you're rewarded with lore. There needs to be more of this. The developers clearly had this well thought out universe (no pun intended) and it left me wanting more. It is primarily a walking simulator but the place you're walking in! The things you can find... Be aware that this will punish your graphics card like a new Crysis.1 found this helpful
It is said that if you go to a crossroad at night, you might meet Hekate. Honestly, I don't know if I saw her, but I went through many crossroads, back and forth, each time leading me somewhere else. Curiously, even though it is a labyrinth, I never had the feeling of being lost. Several times I have hesitated to give up. However, quickly enough, the labyrinth called me back. Did I really find the exit ? I'm not sure. But I found many things : philosophy, liminal spaces, BLAME!, Alt236, a certain king, and some yellow eyes. Someone said : "Not all who wander are lost." That would be a good summary. But I cannot finish this without a quote from the french philosopher Blaise Pascal : "Le silence éternel de ces espaces infinis m'effraie." Go take a look. I have learnt from a very reliable source that the people who crafted this adventure are the finest of them all.
Despite consisting almost entirely of untextured cubes with static lighting, BLACKSHARD manages to run at 40FPS and take up about as much space as *Skyrim*. It's the least optimized game I have ever tried.
the game is incredibly slow, even after lowering all graphic settings its still like you're trying to plow through syrup. you have walk, fast walk and run. but its much slower than all other games. there are probably a lot to discover here but I its not enjoyable due to slowness.
A visual feast, it feels like exploring a giant modern art installation.
Visually amazing! The environments in this game look so cool, trippy, confusing and impossible. It is so creatively done and really feels like being stuck in a dream. Some areas made me stop and go "wow!". The atmosphere is immaculate-mysterious and slightly spooky, and the music lends itself perfectly to that atmosphere. Theres a bit of a story that's told through the discovery of "memory shards" and speaking to characters (only like 2 or 3 characters in the game i think). There's no voice acting which would have been nice but it also doesn't detract too much from the experience. Things that did retract from the game was the jankiness of it. Clipping through structures and getting stuck, running into invisible walls where they dont make sense, getting stuck in deep pits that i cant climb out of, falling through tiny cracks or holes in the floor. Thankfully there is a button that allows you to warp back to the last save point. I also experienced some very noticeable drops in framerate at times, but the game never crashed on me. I found that the walking pace was unbelievably slow. Like excessively slow. The sprinting pace was alright, except when you were trying to make your way d…
