Upon reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly, you decide what room appears behind it and each decision shapes your path as you navigate through the manor. Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets. But be careful how you draft, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow.

Your progress each day is shaped by the rooms you select to draft and the tools you find within them. Items in the game can be used in a number of creative ways to fuel your exploration deeper into the house, allowing you to adopt unique strategies to combat the challenges that each day brings. Yet, tread wisely – the house resets each dawn, erasing all but the permanent upgrades to your estate blueprint. That is, if you were clever enough to find one!

a really cool puzzle game hindered by trying to be a mediocre roguelite. i admire the unique attempt of combining contrasting genres: puzzle games, which are to be played once, and roguelites, which are to be replayed infinite times. unfortunately, blue prince did not hit the mark on this. the random design of the game is frustrating and adds artificial difficulty to progressing. in most roguelikes/roguelites, runs with terrible luck still allow players to adapt and overcome bad RNG. meanwhile, even a regular amount of luck in blue prince abruptly ends runs. which makes progression incredibly time consuming. there's so much grinding required to get the perfect combination of rooms with the perfect amount of resources and items just to test out a theory on any of the puzzles. overall, i found the gameplay loop too tedious to have any motivation to continue. the world of the game and the detail in every area is breathtaking. this game would be amazing if players were given better agency in regards to the RNG.1 found this helpful

A fresh one in this genre, you should give it a try without context and you'll like it
I don't care for randomness in puzzle games. Solving a puzzle should only require thought. Also, I learned that some vital elements of the game only become likely after you've played x number of days. Again, what does that have to do with thinking thru a puzzle? Just rewards the grind.
