Bomb's Lair

Fantastic game! Love the music and art style.

For those who grew up in early 2000s, this game has a speck of nostalgia from Bomberman. You would play as a peculiar bomber because in Bomberman wherein you bomb a location making a cross pattern and you bomb each other's faces, while in Bomb's Lair you move as if this is a game of chess and you move like the King - one step at a time and every step, the color of the bomb changes until it explodes so are in dire need to think about how to conserve your moves properly so that you can bomb the obstacles or else you would be trap in the level (forever). I managed to pass through 10 levels and for someone who is rusted in playing chess i think would really feel the frustration and challenge because every move counts. But there are some level designs that would not make sense. For example, there are some bomb placements, and you thought that all the bombs will be used, but no, they are just sitting there. Along the way, wou would be able to map out your way way out because this game really teaches you to think and overthink your steps. If you are looking for a story then this is not the kind of game you want. But if you you want stretch your mind then give it a try - it's a fun little …

A great little puzzle game. Not terribly difficult, but certainly makes you think a bit. Kinda reminds me of the time I spent playing browser games when I was younger. And it's free! There isn't much not to like about this one.

A puzzle game where you have to destroy in stead of push boxes seems like the perfect antidote whenever you suffer from too many futile attempts trying to solve sokobanlike puzzles. ...yet the gameplay feels eerily similar. With 48 puzzles the game is short and sweet. The puzzles were of excellent design and a couple of times after solving a puzzle I found myself just staring at the screen, savouring the solution I just performed. There is no takeback button to undo your latest command. In theory this could result in a lot of wasted time. But in practice the solutions are short and to the point enough that the omission of an undo button hardly matters (to me). [strike]A point of criticism. After completing all 48 levels I was unceremoniously kicked out of the game. Some kind of acknoledgement of my victory in the game would have been nice. (eg. a victory lap level where you get to throw one bomb into a pit of fireworks that upon exploding would spell: "Congratulations! You completed the game. A bunch of clever little puzzles where you pick up bombs that blow up larger areas every move but explode after 3 movements.

This was a short but enjoyable little puzzle game. Some levels definitely required a bit more thinking than others, but nothing was so overly obtuse that I ever became frustrated. I think some of the later levels involving the steam vents were really cool in execution. Great work there! I did find it a bit jarring that the game forcibly closes itself after beating the final level; you should consider adding an 'All Levels Cleared' screen or something similar before returning the player to the main menu.
