Broken Space Traveler is criticized for being a derivative clone of Vampire Survivors without meaningful improvements, along with significant technical limitations like a capped 1080p resolution and incomplete translations. Players complain about unbalanced gameplay mechanics, forced auto-fire, poor character progression that requires repetitive playthroughs, and severely imbalanced items and upgrades that force specific builds to win. The core wave-survival formula is functional but feels stale due to lack of permanent progression and boring, repetitive late-game strategy.
"Broken Space Traveler" is a blatant ripoff of Vampire Survivors (Copyright Poncle, 2021). The "developer" has looked at an existing, successful game and decided that copying it was an acceptable substitute for having an original idea. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Poncle against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. Beyond the copyright issue, the unwritten rule of cloning someone else's game is that you should at least try to improve on it. Broken Space Traveler doesn't. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the display resolution caps out at 1080p, a very low resolution that became mainstream back in 2006 and became obsolete when 4K entered the mainstream in 2014. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to th…9 found this helpful
Although you unlock new characters and weapons, you can’t make yourself better with permanent upgrades. As with many horde survival games on the market today, they rarely deviate from the tried-and-true model. Your goal is to survive as many waves as possible while avoiding enemies and gaining experience points. Auto-fire is the game's default setting, and you cannot disable it. The game takes you through waves, and you need to survive 17 of them. While each wave produces an infinite amount of enemies, your sole goal is to survive until the timer runs out. After completing a wave, you can choose to proceed to the next stage immediately or visit the shop. The shop sells four random and generic bonuses, but each has a positive and negative aspect, as well as one of three rarity levels. If you see something you want, you can save it for your future visit to the shop or use the reroll to adjust the shop's offerings. Each beaten wave earns you money. The experience points mechanic is the same as everywhere else. After you have grabbed enough and completed a wave, you will be given a random selection. All center on weapons, so you can either choose a new one or upgrade the ones you a…3 found this helpful
Game in some parts are not translated, specific item, also some upgrades are just empty, and game feels junky when you need to play all characters to unlock level 2, you need to play each character level 1 and then that character unlocks only level 2, making you play 2 games with each character to even with, other thing half of legendary is trash, worse then epics are rares, they are super situational, items are so unbalanced, making you play only specific items if you want to win, greedy healing you cant possibly lose ever, on other hand playing it every game feels boring, since you playing safe, and once you go greedy gold, you get to late game, and boss just 2 taps you because you lack armor, dodge in this game is broken since there is no limit just go 100% dodge noone will get you, didnt get that high best I got was 94% dodge making me easily beat last boss, what you consider beating living for 80 seconds running in laps around the map. Game felt fun at start how you unlock new characters, and weapons, but once you beat game first time feels you are stuck in loop because of level system. Also not enough description what each attribute does magic dealing 28 dmg dosen't 1 shot ba…2 found this helpful

Neutral Recommendation The game sticks closely to the typical horde survival formula: survive waves, gain experience, and earn money to upgrade weapons. You progress through 17 waves, each spawning infinite enemies, with your goal simply to survive until the timer runs out. Upgrades are limited—there’s no permanent progression for your character, and auto-fire is forced. The shop offers random bonuses with trade-offs and rarity levels, and weapons can be upgraded along three paths, though all upgrades are generally useful. There are 15 characters, each with unique abilities and stats, most of which are locked initially and unlocked by hitting certain milestones. While the game provides variety and some strategy, the lack of an upgrades menu or permanent progression may make it feel less rewarding compared to other games in the genre. A decent play if you enjoy short horde survival sessions, but it doesn’t innovate much beyond the standard formula.1 found this helpful
