Players appreciate Butterfly's minimalist art style and meditative, tranquil atmosphere that provides a relaxing gaming experience, though some criticize it as overly simplistic or easy. The main frustration is technical issues, particularly frequent softlocks that render the game unplayable, along with complaints about the music and some disagreement about the game's core subject matter.

Hated it. Tacky, music made me wanna pull out my nostril hairs and whip my cousin with them. A lot of times it would glitch and softlock the game entirely, rendering it entirely unplayable. I would've recommended this game if it wasn't for the softlocks it would constantly do. It was unsufferable.
