I've been a big fan of Yuzusoft's visual novels. Sabbat of the Witch is great, Senren Banka is decent, Riddle Joker is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, Cafe Stella was unable to keep up that trend. The entire time, I was bored, and basically had to force myself to keep reading. After dragging myself through the common route and one heroine route, I decided to take the L and drop this visual novel. It's kinda hard to explain what went wrong, but basically, nothing about this VN captured my interest. None of the characters felt particularly interesting or likeable. Likewise, the setting felt dull. Yuzusoft VNs are all about injecting supernatural elements into ordinary life, and exploring interesting dynamics that result from it. But not only is Cafe Stella's supernatural mechanics arbitrary and poorly explained, it's almost completely separate from the cafe part of the story. Speaking of which, the cafe theme is done too often in VNs (including Yuzusoft's own Senren Banka), making the story way too predictable. Even the music, which is usually one of Yuzusoft's strong points, felt lackluster. While Sabbat of the Witch and Senren Banka both have music that get stuck in my head y…1 found this helpful
