About Candle
Guide young Teku through treacherous puzzles and traps using his magical candle hand to illuminate secrets and vanquish enemies on a quest to rescue his tribe's shaman. Stunning hand-painted watercolor visuals and atmospheric South American-inspired soundtrack create an adventure that feels like exploring a living painting.
Candle is an adventure with challenging puzzles. Play as Teku, a young novice on a dangerous journey to rescue his tribe's shaman from the evil tribe of the Wakcha. But the way is littered with sinister traps and difficult obstacles. To master these challenges, you need to have keen eyes and a good sense for your environment, or your next step may be your last.
But Teku has a special gift: his left hand is a candle. Let it be a bright beacon to drive off your enemies or to shed light on dark places.
Gorgeous hand-painted watercolor visuals give Candle that special flair, as all backgrounds and characters have been carefully drawn and then scanned, picture after picture. The game consistently feels like a living painting.

This game feels bad to play on a mechanical level. I don't really have a problem with the puzzles, the story is fine, and the art style is great, but none of those make up for the fact that this just feels miserable and frustrating to play moment-to-moment. I can't wholeheartedly disrecommend it because I think people with high tolerance for poorly implemented controls could definitely enjoy it, but I didn't.2 found this helpful
Awesome, challenging game. Don't understand, why reviews are "Mostly Positive".1 found this helpful
PROS:

Beautiful hand-painted watercolor art style that gives the game a unique identity.
Strong voice acting that helps bring the characters and world to life.
Plenty of funny moments and decent humor throughout the adventure.
Excellent soundtrack that perfectly complements the atmosphere.
Some genuinely creative and clever puzzles.
Lots of amusing and often unexpected ways to die.
Decent story.

CONS:

The controls, character movement, and overall gameplay feel clunky and unresponsive.
Platforming sections are frustrating because precise movement is required, but the controls don't support it well. Many jumps feel unreliable, leading to deaths that feel unfair rather than deserved.
Gameplay becomes annoying surprisingly quickly.
Some puzzles are poorly explained or too vague, making progress feel more like trial and error than problem-solving.
Frequent deaths stop being funny after a while and become frustrating.

OVERALL:
his is one of those games that constantly fights against itself. On one hand, it has a gorgeous hand-pai…
The art is gorgeous, sadly the gameplay is ruined by the janky mechanics making it frustrating to play. This also makes trying to solve the puzzles and moving around get tiredsome really quickly.
This game has a really beautiful and unique art style and a lot of challenging puzzles. Like I genuinely would have never beaten it without a guide. The story took a backseat to how much fun I was having just trying to figure out what to do next. Platforming controls can be a little difficult at times, especially during time-sensitive moments, but it's nothing bad. I appreciated how the game is fully narrated and voiced. Overall this is a really cute game that I didn't expect to love as much as I did!
Candle is one of those cosy indie adventures that feels more like sitting down with a storybook than suiting up for battle. There’s no shooting, no high octane combat, and definitely no blood spillage... just gentle puzzles, exploration, and a charming world built around light and colour. The core mechanic revolves around restoring lost light to a fractured land using magical candles, and it’s surprisingly satisfying. Each area feels like its own little tableau, with simple puzzles that encourage observation and curiosity rather than reflexes or brute force. It’s the kind of game that doesn’t try to stress you out! The challenge comes from creative thinking and appreciating the peaceful pace. The lack of replay incentive after finishing the story is noticeable; once you’ve lit all the candles, the world has told you its tale and politely asks if you’d like to try something else. That’s fine for a short, sweet experience, but it means Candle lives and dies by its atmosphere and initial charm. Fortunately, both are strong enough to make the journey worthwhile. Great for kids. 7/10.
