About Captain ToonHead vs the Punks from Outer Space
A truly first-person tower defense, designed for VR:
This is not your diorama-style VR tower defense. This time you’re going to have to move all over the map, hammer away to upgrade your towers, throw over-powered chanclas recklessly and shoot electric beams from weaponized pizza at your enemies. Fight from the front lines!
Not the hero we wanted, but the one we got stuck with:
After the whole squad sent by the World Treaty for Freedom (WTF) got fried by a burrito-related explosion, it’s on Elliott Salazar, the cartoon-obsessed facility technician and the only survivor, to save Earth. There’s a new captain onboard: Captain ToonHead!
Take control of your towers:
Take manual control of a tower to project lethal beams of hot sauce from your hands, ignite infinite heat-seeking fireworks, irresponsibly spray a snowball machine gun, shoot rays from electrified pizza slices or unleash a piñata blitz over your enemies.
Balance action and strategy:
You're going to do a lot of shooting, that’s for sure, but shooting alone will not defeat the waves of Cyberchickens, punks and Terra-sharks. You’re going to have to combine those Piñata towers and chancla throws in a very strategic way if you want to save more Enercubes and destroy the EarthRadicator-1000.

I was sent the game to try the new survival Mode. I will later update this review on the campaign part of the game. Currently I really enjoyed the Survival mode and you learn what each creatures abilities are along with what is the best way to take them out. NOTE: In survival mode I was first stumped how to change sectors. Apparently it wasnt any buttons on your physical remote but on your digital remote/glove. On your digital wrist put the other hand over to press the button to switch sectors or get sent to the main screen to select it. I will definitely play this some more But I warn you one more time turns into many without you realizing it. ;-). Only got to the end of sector 2 so when i try more i will be able to see whats at the end or if there is an end.2 found this helpful
Overall, I did enjoy this game. I feel like the game is a bit overambitious in what they try to accomplish as a tower defense game. The controls get in the way a bit with overcomplication which led to some frustrating moments in game play on the more advanced levels when you need immediate response times. The pacing gets pretty frenetic in the later stages. I streamed this game and it didn't do particularly well just because of the level of hyperfocus it took to manage defense. Great game for pulling you into the moment, but also terrible for being able to look away and engage with chat. Graphically, the game has a neat style to it that I feel fits the motif/vibe of the game. It feels a bit like they played it a bit too safe going with more generic character designs on both the hero and villain side. The animation style isn't anything dazzling either, but it doesn't drag the game down. The initial playthrough was fine, and offerst a decent amount of material. The game does lack in replay interest though. I mostly got 100% clear on each map, 1st or 2nd try. If you're -really- into tower defense style games then you might have fun digging in on this one. Personal recommondation …1 found this helpful
This game is super addictive, challenging, silly, and so much fun. You can tell that the developers put a lot of "heart" into this. IMO this is one of the best VR tower defense games available. I had been hoping for a VR version of Plants vs Zombies for years ( Love that game), realized that that it probably isn't going to happen, and found Captain ToonHead as a recommendation on a VR gaming site. I'm so glad that I did. It's one of my favorite VR games overall. ( Defense Grid 2 VR is a favorite too.) I hope that the developers continue to update it.1 found this helpful

The outer space punks and Captain ToonHead himself are lovingly crafted, adding to the game's unique charm. Gameplay and Tower Defense Mechanics: The gameplay of Captain ToonHead vs the Punks from Outer Space is easy to grasp but challenging enough to keep you engaged. As the player, you take control of Captain ToonHead and his defense towers to fend off the attacking punks from outer space. Strategically placing different towers and upgrading them to optimize your defense is key. The game strikes a good balance between the strategic setup of your defense and active participation in the battle…1 found this helpful
Fun tower defence game which can get hard at times. There are only 4 towers but they seem to cover all types. There are only two weapons which is a bit limited and I did wish the projectiles of your guns were faster.
I bought this game quite some time ago and only got to play it today. It is a very polished game with an incredibly cool style that shows in gameplay, retro-inspired menus, and interface elements. I wholly recommend this game even if it's not on sale, and I'll be back in it shortly once my headset finishes charging.
