DId you see the store page video? Did you like it? That's basically the whole game. Except it'll be laggier in VR, at least on an RTX 3080 and your computer will freeze when you bang the sticks together to make those glowing particles scatter. Then it's over just like that. My ex-wife said it reminded her of our wedding night, only there was less build up. [b]Rate 4.5/10. Close, but even at free, I can't recommend this. Tested on the Meta Quest 3 using link cable.[/b]

Molten Iron Firework is a free VR experience. It worked on my Index and HTC Vive system, sounded ok, looked ok, was understandable, played ok. Buggy. Has a tutorial that you have to follow at the start up. You can just watch the video on the store page and that is the experience. Played better with the HTC Vive. CONS: - Had a hard time with picking up and dropping items in game. - Following the instructions at the metal smelter is not working. Could not get metal on my stick. This is free, but not worth the download.

Cast Iron Flowers is a very different experience from the usual games I play, and I appreciated how focused it is on introducing me to a traditional Chinese craft. The game is a VR simulation based around Cast Iron Flowers, a Chinese intangible cultural heritage practice where molten iron is used to create beautiful firework like patterns. I liked that the experience is designed around actually performing the process rather than simply watching a video about it. The VR interaction is the main feature. I use the controllers to pick up a basket of iron pieces, place them into the furnace and then handle the willow sticks used for the molten iron display. I enjoyed the physical nature of these tasks because it makes the process feel much more memorable than simply reading instructions on a screen. The final stage is easily the most visually impressive part. I take the heated material toward the trellis and strike the willow sticks to create the flower like patterns. Watching the sparks spread around me in VR is a nice showcase for the medium, and I think this is where the educational purpose and the visual spectacle come together most effectively.
