Champion road is a fun brawler that plays a little bit like kung fu, but enhanced with some special moves, weapons, and more dynamic level design that includes some platforming. You get a nice selection of characters with different attacks and storylines to add replay value. The game has a nice 16 bit look and a good soundtrack to accompany all the action and definitely a fun one for fans of platforming brawlers.

At first I wondered what was the matter with the graphics looking so unpolished, until I realized this is supposed to be sort of a call-back to [b]Dragon Climax[/b], if the presence of Mr. Devil and his Disco Caldo is any indication (I expected Shinya and Kasuga to show up, but they didn't). After a while, I've started to like those designs, especially the oversized hands everyone is ready to throw. Once a character is selected, the others act as bosses through five levels, with one's own level obviously skipped. Miss Devil is the best: her premise for fighting is much more original and funny than the generic "I must be the strongest for more or less selfish reasons" of the others; in-game she looks more spunky than sexy, and her close-range special move hits several times. Sadly, the praise ends here because this game's lack of polish is not just in the graphics. The gameplay is bland and messy, the difficulty is uneven, levels are remixed depending on which character is selected, but it's hard to realize as they are so simple and scrolling only horizontally. I really do like SEEP games. This one, has some definite pros and cons: PROS: good characters, multiple playable characters, great pixel art, decent enemy variety, good movement of characters, I liked the story behind each character. CONS: very repetitive (same 5 or 6 levels), some enemy placement is frusterating, stupid objects falling from the sky that have no warning and are hard to dodge, boss battles are all the same - they just relentlessly rush at you. I played thru the game with 3 of the 6 characters, and it took my about 30 minutes for each run. Overall, it is a good game, but it does have some shortcomings. But for the fair price, I still recommend it.
