Chef Strikes Back

"Chef Strikes Back" is an amusing premise for a game that ultimately failed due to poor technical execution. The idea of the game is kind of fun. It starts out as your usual mobile app tier restaurant platespinner... do the busywork platespinning to keep customers happy. Where it gets interesting is when they customers aren't happy... then they attack you and you have to fight them. That's it, that's the joke. Unfortunately it just doesn't "work" well, the implementation just isn't there to back up the premise. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded [i]despite[/i] the bad graphics, not because of them. Not every "free" game really is. This game is chaos incarnate and I am here for it. It is pretty difficult but that's what makes it fun. I look forward to improving to the point where I can at least beat the tutorial level.
