Chefcito Asesino

Very simple side scroller. Progression is gaining coins to buy weapons and character skins. Weapon costs are a little high. No support for pad, but steam input makes it work. It is in Spanish but easily understood visuals allow you to play in any language.

Steam is drowning in thousands of lazy, low-effort 2D platformers, and "Chefcito Asesino" is yet another one. I'm not kidding, there's over 17,000 platformers on Steam, almost all of them are garbage, amateur kitbashes. This is not one of the good ones. This is a very medicore 2D platformer shooter where you get to control a rat with a gun. The rat has the gun, rather, and you control the rat. That's all there is to this... a mediocre and shallow platformer designed for iPhones and inexplicably up on Steam as a once-paid product. Imagine trying to charge PC gamers for mobile apps on Steam. The platforming genre is pretty much obsolete... just a tiny number of professionally developed platformers exist on PC and offer any real value or interest to gamers (Silksong, etc). This is nowhere near being as good as Hollow Knight or Silksong. Even without a price tag, it's easy to see why gamers ignored this in favor of modern, professionally developed 3D games. Rata con cuete, funny 10/10

Chefcito Asesino is a simple side scrolling shooter where I play as an angry rat trying to survive in the sewers. The idea is ridiculous in the best way. I am running through dark underground areas, shooting sewer monsters and collecting coins from things like boxes and vases along the way. It is not trying to be a huge story driven game or some complicated action experience. It gets straight to the shooting and keeps the whole thing focused on surviving for as long as I can. The combat is pretty straightforward, but I think that works in its favour. I have several weapons to use and I can switch between them depending on what is coming towards me. The enemies are also armed, so I cannot just run forward without paying attention. The further I get, the more dangerous things become, and the simple side scrolling setup makes it easy to understand what is happening on screen. I like that I can pick it up and start playing without having to learn a pile of systems first. The upgrade system gives me a reason to keep pushing through runs. Breaking objects gives me coins that I can use to improve my equipment, so even when I have a bad run I still have something to work towards. I also …
